Announced yesterday to universal QPR Fan Joy and acclaim!

QPR OFFICIAL SITE - DIAKITE SIGNS R'S DEAL

Queens Park Rangers Football Club is delighted to confirm the permanent transfer of Samba Diakite.
The Malian midfielder has put pen to paper on a four year-deal at Loftus Road, after Rangers agreed an undisclosed fee with SASP Nancy-Lorraine for the 23 year-old.
Diakite was a revelation during a short loan spell in W12 last season, producing one virtuoso display after another, as well as netting the winner in the R's 2-1 victory against Arsenal in late March.
A delighted Mark Hughes told www.qpr.co.uk: "Samba was a real find for us in January, so we're delighted he's joined us permanently.

"He's a very accomplished footballer and he's made to measure for the Premier League.
"He's got good pace, strength and ability on the ball and he's going to be a great asset for us going forward."
Hughes added: "There's still so much more to come from him.
"He's only been exposed to the Premier League for a handful of games, so I'm sure he's raring to go and get back into the action again."
Diakite (pictured with Technical Director, Mike Rigg), who made a stunning impact in his nine starts in a QPR shirt last season, said: "It's a dream come true to sign this contract.
"I loved my time here on loan and I couldn't be happier to join QPR on a permanent deal.
"It's a fantastic Club to play for and the owners have great plans for the future - I am just delighted to be part of it.
"This is a really exciting move for me."  QPR Official Site

SOCCER 365 - Taarabt 'wants to stay' at QPR

Adel Taarabt is ready to commit his long-term future to Queens Park Rangers despite interest from elsewhere in England.

And the priority now is an extension to his contract despite interest from elsewhere.

The Morocco playmaker helped Rangers survive in the Premier League last season after a summer move to Paris Saint-Germain fell through.

He said: "I want to stay at QPR. I have received offers from other Premier League clubs, but my deal is signed until June 2013 and I want to increase the contract.

"My agent has a document from the club about their long-term project, and it's very interesting to me."

Rangers have been busy in the transfer market since the end of the season, signing Rob Green, Andy Johnson, Ryan Nelsen and Samba Diakite. " SOCCER 365

 -  Alan McDonald  - Continuing Tributes from Former Players and Fans
As one reads all the heart-warming memories and stories about Alan McDonald - the person as much as the player - it brings home, once again, how much QPR need to institute some form of Former Player Association.  To keep in touch with the players; to bring them to the fans; and yes, to help out, when needed - especially with health problems which came about from playing.  Other clubs do this. QPR should do no less.

QPR CLUB STATEMENT - JOEY BARTON

Posted on: Mon 25 Jun 2012

Following a full internal investigation, Queens Park Rangers Football Club can confirm Joey Barton has been fined six weeks' wages and will no longer be Club Captain.

The 29 year-old midfielder will also be absent from the Club's pre-season tour of Asia in July.

The Club has also reached agreement with Barton that if he seriously breaches the Club's disciplinary procedures again, the Club reserves the right to terminate his contract.

CEO Philip Beard said: "It was important that we took our time to make sure we came to the correct decision, which I believe we have achieved.

"Joey's behaviour, which led to his red card at Manchester City, and his subsequent actions were completely unacceptable and we have made our feelings on this matter known to him.

"I am really pleased with the way in which the Club and Joey have worked towards reaching a sensible conclusion and we fully believe he will respond to these sanctions in the correct manner."

Barton said: "My behaviour was wrong and I accept the punishment that has been imposed upon me as a result.

"I apologise to the Manager, my team-mates and of course the QPR fans for my actions. I also apologise to the Manchester City players, staff and supporters."

*The Club and Joey Barton will be making no further comment.

QPR Report Sunday: Alan McDonald (RIP)

-

 - RIP: Alan McDonald Aged 48. 400+ Games for QPR. 50+ Caps for Northern Ireland - Flashbacks and Tributes (Fans and Players)

QPR Official Site - ALAN MCDONALD - R.I.P

Queens Park Rangers Football Club is desperately saddened to learn of the passing of former Captain and Assistant Manager Alan McDonald.
The 48 year-old - who made nearly 500 appearances for the Super Hoops spanning over a 17-year period - died suddenly this morning (Saturday) while playing golf in his native Northern Ireland.
Belfast-born McDonald, who would go on to be crowd favourite at Loftus Road, originally signed for Rangers as a schoolboy.
He gained valuable experience in a loan spell at Charlton Athletic in 1983, before returning to W12 to eventually hold down a regular starting spot.
In his time as a player, McDonald led the R's to the 1986 Milk (League) Cup Final, in what was a memorable run to Wembley.
He scored an extra-time goal in our replay win over Chelsea in the quarter-finals, before QPR beat Liverpool in the semis. Rangers were unfortunately beaten by Oxford United in the Final.
McDonald also featured in a number of other famous R's victories, including a certain 6-0 win over Chelsea on Easter Monday of 1986, as well as a 4-1 drubbing of Manchester United at Old Trafford on New Year's Day in 1992.
He was part of the Rangers side which finished as the Premier League's top London Club at the end of 1992/93 campaign.
The Northern Ireland skipper also won 52 international caps for his country. He is the most-capped player in the history of QPR.
After finishing his playing career at Swindon Town, McDonald would eventually return to football - and Loftus Road - when he joined the Club as then-boss Gary Waddock's assistant in 2006.
He would later lead Glentoran to the Irish League championship in 2009.
The Club would like to extend its deepest condolences to Alan's family and friends at this sad time.
May he rest in peace. Reaction to follow on www.qpr.co.uk in the coming days. QPR

Express - By Colin Mafham -- LAST CHANCE FOR JOEY BARTON TO MEND HIS WAYS

JOEY BARTON looks set to be thrown an amazing lifeline right out of the Last Chance Saloon.
The man Fabio Capello said was “too dangerous” to play for England is expected to be given one final opportunity to mend his wayward ways with QPR.
The Londoners considered showing him the door after a lengthy inquiry into his shocking behaviour against Manchester City in last season’s final game.
But the legal cost of doing so – and his undoubted talents – mean that the volatile midfielder, who is banned from playing for a considerable chunk of the next domestic season anyway, looks likely to escape becoming an international outcast as well… for the time being.
QPR are expected to pull back from the brink and give Barton his final public warning within the next 48 hours along with a move to curtail his Twitter outbursts which have also frequently landed him in hot water.
The man Fabio Capello said was “too dangerous” to play for England is expected to be given one final opportunity to mend his wayward ways with QPR

Far-reaching legal strings are also likely to be attached to protect QPR from him repeating the sort of behaviour that got Barton a 12-match ban for violent conduct during Rangers’ 3-2 defeat by City.
That was the latest blackspot in a controversy-littered career that started to go off the rails eight years ago when he was sent off for the first time, ironically at City.
It was the beginning of a downward spiral that many feared would see him ending up as a global pariah this time. But thanks to manager Mark Hughes and the club’s legal advisers the doors of that Last Chance Saloon look like staying open for a little longer for a maverick whose CV – crime vitae, that is – reads as follows:

Fined six weeks’ wages by Manchester City after stubbing a lit cigar in the eye of a young team-mate at the club’s Christmas party.
Fined eight weeks’ wages and sent home after an altercation with a 15-year-old Everton fan in Bangkok during a pre-season tour.
Suspended after a training-ground scrap with Ousmane Dabo which got him a four-month suspended jail sentence for assault. He was also banned for 12 games by the FA and fined £25,000.
Moved to Newcastle for £6million but within months was charged with common assault after a late-night incident in Liverpool and missed the club’s New Year fixtures.
Jailed for six months after admitting the charges.
Banned again by the FA after punching Blackburn winger Morten Gamst Pedersen.
Transfer-listed after a series of Twitter comments criticising the club.
Branded the FA “Orwellian” and in need of a “drastic shake-up”.
Now Barton is understood to have made certain promises about his future behaviour. Whether he can keep them remains to be seen… some time around early November when his present ban expires.
Hughes has promised several new faces at Loftus Road this summer and has already brought in Andy Johnson, Ryan Nelsen and Rob Green. Now he has Leicester defender Paul Konchesky in his sights for a £1m deal.
Barking-born Konchesky, who was sold by ex-Fulham boss Hughes to Liverpool in 2010, wants a return to the capital and is keen on a switch to west London. The two-times capped England left-back could also be joined at Loftus Road by Manchester United’s Fabio, who is set to move on a season-long loan. Express
