- Fleetwood are a young club going places. 5 promotions already in the last few years. If I help some of their young players, great
- Still have 3 years left at QPR. Exciting times for the club, which I intended to be a part of. Need to get some fitness in the meantime...

A Reminder of how Far QPR Have Come in the Past Year in more ways than one!

 "CLUB STATEMENT: TAARABT IS STAYING
Posted on: Sat 23 Jul 2011
Club Statement on behalf of majority shareholders Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore:
'We are pleased to confirm that Adel Taarabt will be staying at QPR this summer.
Despite receiving a substantial bid for our Moroccan international, we rebuffed all approaches and indeed, we are keen to build for the future in the Barclays Premier League, and not sell one of our prized assets.
Should we have decided to sell Taarabt this summer, we made it clear to Neil Warnock that we would reinvest funds into the squad.
Taarabt is fully committed to the Club and is looking forward to proving his undoubted star quality for QPR in the Barclays Premier League.
Our decision not to sell him only serves to reiterate the ambition and commitment we have both shown to QPR since we arrived here.
We saved the Club when it was close to relegation from the Championship and just one week from liquidation.
At this time, Flavio Briatore outlined a four year plan to reach the Premier League, which was achieved.
We have always owned approximately 70 per-cent of the shareholding at the Club and have been the major benefactors since our arrival.
We have backed Neil Warnock in bringing in his two top targets, Jay Bothroyd and Kieron Dyer, and we are working hard to try and pursue a couple of other targets the coach has identified.
Welsh international Danny Gabbidon has impressed the coach whilst on trial and we are aiming to add him, as well as at least one or two other players to our squad in the near future.
Neil Warnock is our coach and we are working closely with him in a professional and confidential manner to try to achieve our aims and objectives.
The coach's job is to coach the squad and identify players he believes will improve the squad. As a Board, we deal with all the negotiations and we have been successful in completing deals for Bothroyd and Dyer so far.
We are aware of some issues that have been raised in the press by the coach, but we have discussed these with him internally and he has agreed to be more reserved in terms of what he discusses in the future.
We are fully committed to strengthening our status as a Premier League Club next season and in due course, build for the future.
Now we are in the Premier League, we intend to stay here. We believe this Club can achieve great things and we are looking forward to the Barclays Premier League season.

SHAUN DERRY/Portsmouth Interest?

PORTSMOUTH NEWS/Neil Allen -  Pompey boss interested in bringing midfielder back to Fratton
Michael Appleton has admitted he would be interested in bringing Shaun Derry back to Fratton Park should he become available.
The QPR midfielder was linked with a return to the south coast over the weekend.
Derry made 55 appearances and scored one goal for the Blues before being sold by Harry Redknapp to Crystal Palace in the summer of 2002.
Since then, he has played for Nottingham Forest, Leeds and now QPR, who he made 29 appearances for in the Premier League last season, just one of which came as a substitute.
Now the 34-year-old is reportedly lined up to leave Loftus Road this summer as QPR manager Mark Hughes continues his rebuilding.
However, Derry’s existing contract – which expires in the summer of 2013 – would have to be cancelled by mutual agreement to enable him to become a free agent.
As it stands, Pompey are in no position to recruit any players until they get permission by the Football League.
Nonetheless, Appleton conceded he would consider an approach to Derry if the situation arose.
The Pompey boss said: ‘Shaun is a Premier League player. Would I be interested in a Premier League player? Of course I would.
‘At the end of the day, if people like that became available then we would be interested, so whether Portsmouth would be the destination for someone like Shaun, then who knows?
‘If it became a possibility, though, then I would be very interested.’
Derry initially joined Pompey in March 2000, Tony Pulis signing him from Sheffield United.
He would spend the next two-and-a-half years at Fratton Park, becoming captain under Graham Rix and a key part of the Blues side.
Yet Redknapp didn’t fancy the combative midfielder and he was part of the clear-out in preparation for what would be a successful push for promotion to the Premier League.
Derry has made 625 career appearances, netting 14 times. Portsmouth News

MIRROR Junior aspirin: Massive fee would ease the pain of losing Hoilett to QPR says Kean
Blackburn Rovers contract rebel will not be moving without the thick end of £6million changing hands – or some sort of swap involving Jamie Mackie

Constipation: Blackburn's wantaway Canadian striker David Junior Hoilett wants to get things moving

Getty
QPR will have to pay a big fee for Junior Hoilett as Blackburn Rovers boss Steve Kean stands firm on his contract rebel.
Mark Hughes’ men are set to confirm the signing of Canadian attacker Hoilett despite live interest from German side Borussia Monchengladbach.
But Kean warned there will be a big tribunal demand - over £6 million - from Rovers if they cannot agree a fee or get an agreement to take top target Jamie Mackie in exchange.

Compo: Steve Kean would seek tribunal payout for Blackburn over Junior Hoilett

Kean said: “QPR might make us an offer, if not it might go to a tribunal. We were always hopeful he would go to a club here because the compensation would be greater.

“Manchester City got a chunky figure when Daniel Sturridge went to Chelsea. We have had Junior for a long time and we developed him and put a lot of time and effort into him.

“I am sure that will be reflected when the time comes.”

Kean wants Mackie as part of the deal but admitted it would be a fight and said: “There are plenty of good players down there. But we are finding out that clubs like to keep their best players.”

Rovers are also unhappy with Hoilett for leaving without saying a word, only finding out about his medical at QPR second hand.

Hoilett was brought to England by Blackburn as a kid and put through school before becoming a first-team player after a lengthy work permit battle.

Kean said: “We feel we have been a big part of his development. It would have been nice to get a call.
“We had monthly meetings with his dad and he said he was keeping his options open. His dad is his agent and has been all around the world looking for offers.”

QPR Report Sunday: Stan Bowles Joins QPR Flashback Birthdays for Springett & Bannister..Woking Report

-
-- QPR and England Goalkeeper Ron Springett Turns 77 --- - -- Birthday for Gary Bannister -- - Flashback: Transfer Leak Infuriates QPR Chairman -
-
- Woking Official Site Woking 1 Queens Park Rangers 2 Pre-Season Friendly 21st July 2012 Another fine performance from the Cards, particularly in the first half, ended disappointingly in a 2-1 defeat against a QPR XI – a result that hardly reflected Woking’s dominance throughout most of the game. The Premiership visitors fielded a team made up largely of reserve team players but still featuring the experienced Rob Hulse, Tommy Smith and D.J. Campbell. And it was Campbell’s sharpness in front of goal that provided the Premiership side with a win very much against the run of play. Garry Hill fielded two trialists in the first half and new loan signing Bradley Bubb. With Aaron Howe in goal the back four was made up of Adam Newton, Joe McNerney, Brett Johnson and triallist Renee Steer. Dean Sinclair, the ex-Charlton and Barnet player, was introduced in front of the defence with Lee Sawyer and Kevin Betsy (pictured) in the centre of midfield. Bubb and Loick Pires played out wide with Gez Sole operating up front. From the start the Cards took control playing some superb passing football and creating a host of goal opportunities. Within two minutes a Sole volley was palmed away acrobatically by Lennox and then a few minutes later a rasping Bubb volley was again palmed away by the visitors’ keeper. Hulse almost caused an upset with a near-post effort that Howe cleared with his feet but that was as close as Rangers came to breeching the Cards' solid defence in this first period. Woking continued to create chances – Betsy, dominating in central midfield, played a sweet pass to Pires, whose left-foot volley from the edge of the box was bound for the top corner. Lennox made a superb save to keep the ball out. From the resulting corner a Sinclair header was tipped over and then Pires also headed over from a third set piece. It was all one-way traffic as Betsy and Sawyer combined well in midfield and Newton raided forward setting up Bubb, but his shot was cleared. A strong penalty shout for handball, after McNerney’s effort on the turn from yet another corner appeared to strike a QPR defender, was turned down by referee Mr O’Brien. It was Lee Sawyer’s turn to set up Sole with a wonderful cross-field pass that found the striker unmarked in the box but with the ball under his feet the striker’s chip was again just over the bar. A further Sole cross re-bounded away off the post and then Bubb had another effort fired inches wide of the post. With the half coming to an end and the visitors’ goal continuing to lead a charmed life a break by Steer set up Bubb but his volley was agonisingly just wide. Half-time: Woking 0 Queens Park Rangers 0 QPR made several changes at the start of the second half including the introduction of D. J. Campbell, which was to prove decisive. Playing with greater resolve, the visitors began to gain a little more possession but it was still the Cards who were making most of the running. On 58 minutes Woking created a wonderful chance with Bubb pushing the ball past a defender on the right-hand side, racing past his marker and crossing first time for Sole to meet the ball with a diving header. Sadly, the ball flew wide and the Cards were denied what would have been a sensational strike. Garry now began to introduce the rest of his squad with triallists Greg Mills and Jesse Waller-Lassen replacing Bradley Bubb and Gez Sole and shortly after Jay Davies and Jack Parkinson coming on for Sawyer and Sinclair. But it was very much against the run of play that QPR took the lead on 70 minutes. Steer tripped a QPR forward in the box and D.J. Campbell made no mistake from the spot, sending Aaron Howe the wrong way. Mark Ricketts and Mike Cestor were now introduced along with the Lithuanian striker Nikolaj Misiuk, yet another triallist. Campbell doubled the lead on 77 minutes after turning quickly in the box and volleying home from close range. Despite the setback Woking continued to create chances and some justice was restored when a Mills’ freek-ick was deflected onto the post for Jay Davies to stab home from close range to reduce the deficit. Despite the defeat this was a very impressive performance that augurs well for the start of the season. Garry and Thommo have some difficult decisions to make regarding additions to the squad as Cards fans witnessed some fine performances from triallists who continue to impress. Those newly signed are bedding in well with the “old hands”, and the football on display must surely encourage the management team as well as fans. On Tuesday Woking meet AFC Wimbledon in their fourth pre-season game which should again provide a stiff test for the Cards' new-look side –on this showing it’s a challenge they will be more than confident of meeting. Woking: Aaron Howe, Adam Newton (Mark Ricketts 74), Renee Steer (Mike Cestor 74), Dean Sinclair (Jack Parkinson 67), Joe McNerney, Brett Johnson, Loike Pires, (Nikolaj Misiuk 74) Lee Sawyer (Jay Davies 67), Bradley Bubb (Jesse Waller-Lassen 59), Giuseppe Sole (Greg Mills 59), Kevin Betsy (George Frith 87) Queens Park Rangers: Aaron Lennox, Brad Simmonds, Manny Monthe, Albert, Ben Brown, Taylor Parmenter, Tommy Smith, Tom Hitchcock, Rob Hulse, D. J. Campbell, Bruno Andrende Substitutes not announced Attendance: 739 MOTM: Kevin Betsy – hugely influential in the centre of midfield prompting much of the Cards' attacking threat. http://www.wokingfc.co.uk/home/

MILLWALL TIBUTE TO ALAN MCDONALD Millwall Official Site Tribute for McDonald Posted on: Fri 20 Jul 2012 A minute's applause will be observed prior to kick-off tomorrow when Millwall play Glenavon for former Northern Ireland defender Alan McDonald, who died suddenly last month. McDonald, who played over 400 games for QPR, passed away aged just 48. He was due to be a special guest at tomorrow's game after helping arrange the friendly. Speaking to the Belfast News, Glenavon manager Gary Hamilton said: "This game wouldn't have been made possible without the input of Alan. Alan was good friends with Millwall assistant manager Joe Gallen who was at QPR when Alan was there. Millwall have played friendlies against League of Ireland sides in the past, but this is their first game in Northern Ireland, so it is a great game for the fans who come along. But it will be tinged with sadness because of Alan's recent passing. He was due to come along to the game as our guest, and I was looking forward to sharing a beer with him and Joe afterwards. Sadly, that won't be possible now but we have invited Alan's wife Tonya and son Joshua along and we want to show them how much Alan meant to the football fraternity. We will hold a minutes applause before the game as a small tribute to Alan." http://www.millwallfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10367~2855432,00.html?e QPR OFFICIAL SITE - TUNE TALK SIGN AS TELECOMMS PARTNER Posted on: Sat 21 Jul 2012 QPR are pleased to announce Tune Talk, Malaysia's fastest growing mobile prepaid service, as the Club's 'Official Asian Telecommunications Partner.' QPR Report Friday: New Training Ground Delay...Ugo Ukah Anniversary...

- -
- - QPR Transfer Gossip - - Ugo Ukah Flashback: Seven Years ago Today, Ukah Joins QPR (A look back at his time at QPR) NEW TRAINING GROUND DELAY. Jacob Murtagh/Chronicle QPR chief executive Phil Beard admits a move to the club’s new training ground is behind schedule. Rangers had hoped to move to a new state-of-the-art elite training facility at Warren Farm on a 63-acre site by July next year. But last night the CEO revealed significant improvements to the current training set-up at Harlington has reined in the urgency. The club is the preferred bidder to a 200-year lease on the land on Windmill Lane that borders Southall and Osterley, subject to planning permission, but it could be 2014 before they set up shop there. Beard told the Chronicle: "I’ve slightly changed my opinion now [about the timescale]. "We’ve made significant changes to Harlington and by doing that there’s less of an urgency to get out. "I don’t think it can still be seen as a Premier League training facility, so the plan is still to get Warren Farm up and running as fast as possible and the community project as well. "But I don’t think there’s this urgency to get in there even if we haven’t finished because Harlington is in a position now where Mark [Hughes] feels it delivers what he needs. "However, for the medium to long term we’ve got to move to the new facilities as soon as possible. We need to get it absolutely right." QPR are in the process of submitting initial plans to Ealing Council, which include a covered dome and an outdoor 3G artificial pitch. And Beard believes the project will take around a year to build once they are given the green light by the authorities. "We’re working very closely with the council to make sure we deliver on what we promised on the community side," added Beard, who helped spearhead the successful bid for the London 2012 Olympics. "I would rather we get it absolutely right than try to move as quickly as possible then realise it’s not how we want it. "I don’t want to find ourselves opening our new training ground and then people regretting we didn’t spend more time on it. "The key to it is to get it right for the first-team and the academy as well." http://www.ealinggazette.co.uk/sport/qpr-ealing/2012/07/20/64767-31432025/?

QPR Report Wednesday: The Alan McDonald Plane...QPR "European Champions" Flashback...A Young Phil Parkes: Michael Wale Profile

.
- Seven Year Flashback: QPR "European Champions" -- - QPR OFFICIAL SITE THE ALAN McDONALD AIRCRAFT Posted on: Wed 18 Jul 2012
- AirAsia, the World's Best Low Cost Airline owned by QPR Chairman Tony Fernandes, have paid a glowing tribute to the late, great Alan McDonald, naming a special QPR-themed plane after the former QPR stalwart. McDonald tragically passed away on June 23rd, aged 48, after collapsing on a golf course in native Northern Ireland. Tributes flooded into the Club from all areas of the globe, with players past and present as well as supporters of the beautiful game wanting to pay their respects to the man affectionately known as 'Macca.' Fernandes was particularly taken aback by the many testimonials he read about McDonald on his twitter account and as a result opted to name the Airbus A320 after the iconic R's legend. The airbus is painted in the R's famous blue and white colours with a prominent tail that features QPR's iconic hoops. The interior of the aircraft carries fun facts on both QPR and McDonald himself. Macca, of course, spent 17 wonderful years at Loftus Road, making close to 500 appearances for the Club. Present at the unveiling of the aircraft in Kuala Lumpur were the entire QPR First Team squad, as well as gaffer Mark Hughes, CEO Philip Beard and of course, Fernandes himself. AirAsia Group Head of Commercial, Kathleen Tan told www.qpr.co.uk: "The special aircraft does not only symbolise our energetic relationship with QPR, but also further cements our relationship with a team with an amazing history in English football and whose passion, determination and commitment reflects our own hard work and fervour in attaining success." Tonia McDonald, Alan's widow, added: "On behalf of myself, Joshua and all the McDonald family I cannot thank Mr Fernandes enough for his overwhelming gesture of deciding to remember and honour Alan by naming one of his planes after him. "We know Alan would have been so proud and amazed at such a generous tribute. I'm only sorry that we could not be in KL to witness the unveiling, but I feel immensely proud that Alan's name and the QPR colours will jointly become a legacy incorporated in such a wonderful aircraft. "Mr Fernandes has already promised me that if ever the plane comes to the UK then we will have the opportunity to see it for ourselves and Joshua and I can't wait for that to happen." She added: "Since Alan's death we have really been taken aback by the amount of messages of support we have received both personally and through the Club. The letters, cards, e-mails and texts seem to have been never ending and reading them all brings us such comfort. "This amazing gesture by Mr Fernandes really tops everything and we are so proud to know we have such fantastic friends at QPR." STILL wants to stay! CHRONICLE QPR man defiant despite tour snub By Jacob Murtagh Jul 18 2012 A DEFIANT Rob Hulse insists he has no intention on leaving QPR and plans to see out the rest of his contract at Loftus Road. The striker's days in W12 look numbered after he was left out of the squad for the pre-season tour to Asia, along with Joey Barton, DJ Campbell, Luke Young and Tommy Smith. Hulse is way down the pecking order following the summer signing of Andy Johnson, but still has a year to run on his deal. And the player's agent, Matt Buck, insists the frontman is settled in the area and is not seeking a move elsewhere, despite the snub. He told the Chronicle: “I have spoken to Rob and he's in no rush to leave the club. “He's disappointed that he wasn't included in the squad for the tour but he's not actively looking elsewhere. “He's also still catching up on his fitness following his hernia problem at the end of the season. “There's never been a discussion about him leaving QPR. His family are settled in the area and he plans to honour the contract. “We'll see what the next few weeks bring.” http://www.fulhamchronicle.co.uk/london-....#ixzz20x fbf6PB -
