ADAM Bolder admits he has yet to recapture last season's remarkable form - but believes he is ready to make his mark again.
The midfielder, who turns 27 on Thursday, was a revelation after arriving from Derby County in January.
He played a big part in keeping Rangers up and you could make a good case for saying he was John Gregory's best signing.
But the tireless displays which marked him out as a key figure in the relegation battles have been missing so far this season, as Bolder himself is happy to acknowledge.
"To be honest, I've not really been at my best this season up to now," the QPR skipper told the Gazette.
"I've had quite a few niggling injuries and not managed to shake them off.
"I don't know if that's affected my performances or not, but I'm not overly happy with the way I've been playing.
"But now we've had the break, all those niggles have just about gone and hopefully now I can get back to the form I was in last season." [25a0] Continued on page 95
"I did well towards the end of last season but you have to carry it on and maybe I've been playing in a couple of games where I shouldn't have - and that's not really helped a week later either."
Talking about the unsettling nature of life at Harlington at the moment, Bolder is keen not to pretend it is an easy time.
"There's obviously been a lot of uncertainty about the place waiting to see what happens.
"It's a difficult time at the moment and everyone wants to know who's going to be the manager.
"It affects players in different ways with some more affected than others. But I think you've just got to get on with it.
"When you are out on the pitch, you can't worry about it, and you just have to concentrate on the game, so hopefully it shouldn't really come into play.
"As players, we haven't a clue what is going on and we don't have a say in who will be in charge.
"Mick [Harford] has done well the first two games he's been in charge and if he got another couple of games and did well, it would be difficult for them to look elsewhere.
"We've heard rumours about this other guy who might be coming in. We don't know too much about him but if it does happen, we will soon find out!"
For the time being, it appears Harford will be in charge of the next two games against Ipswich at Loftus Road tomorrow (Saturday) and at Preston on Tuesday night.
His players should be champing at the bit, having been forced to wait an extra week for the chance to build on their first win of the season because of the international break.
"It's not very good when you get your first win and then have to wait a bit for the next game to come around," Bolder said.
"But at least it's given others a chance to shake off a few niggles as well and everyone's been looking forward to getting out there again.
"We can go into both of this week's games with some confidence now, even if we are still bottom of the table.
"In the last two games, we've done a lot better and hopefully we can build on that and I don't see any reason why we can't get back-to-back wins.
"Overall, I think we are in a false position. In some games, we have been outplayed and we've not been at the races at all and in other games, I think we've done really well but only got draws where we deserved a win. Had we done that, we would be a lot better position than we are in at the moment.
"But having said that, we've got a game in hand and if we win that, then we're right back in touch with everybody. Put a few wins together and you can be right back up there.".....

We're approaching the game against Ipswich this weekend with a lot of confidence after recording that first win of the season against Norwich. It was the ideal time to get the monkey off our backs, going into the break.
I watched the Norwich match from the stands and I thought it was a good performance. We battled hard in the first half and then upped the pressure a bit after the break.
It might not have been pretty but there are times when you just have to grind them out and when you haven't won all season that was one of those times. Perhaps there have been times this season when we could have done with being a bit ugly.
swich at home is exactly the sort of game that we need after that win and the break. They are a decent side, but in front of our own fans and with a bit of confidence in the side, we should record a win.
Overall we haven't played as well as we can, but we know that we have a good squad and on our day we can take anyone.
ve just had a run out with the reserves in a 1-0 win over Wycombe. The young lad Kieron St Aimie scored a great goal and showed why he is highly rated. It was a good chance to stretch my legs and get a run out. It was a strong reserve side as it also included Danny Cullip, Marcus Bignot, Zesh Rehman and Stefan Moore.
I'm a bit disappointed at not being in the first team at the moment and all I can do is keep working hard and try to force my way into contention.
Everything seems a bit up in the air right now because we're without a manager. Mick Harford has the reins at the moment and he knows what he's doing, but it's still all a bit unsettled because we simply don't know what is going to happen. It's a bit of a long process to find a boss, but obviously the board want to make sure they get the right man. Icons
