Setanta - Guidolin refutes Rangers link - by Tom Adams, 10 October 2007
Whilst reports continue to link Francesco Guidolin with the vacant Queens Park Rangers role, the Italian insists he has had no dialogue with the London club.
The former Palermo and Monaco manager has emerged as a frontrunner for the Championship position after being spotted in the crowd during QPR’s 1-0 win over Norwich on Monday.
Guidolin is currently out of a job following his sacking from the Italian side last season and it is believed that he could be the favoured choice of his compatriot, and new Rangers co-owner, Flavio Briatore.
However, Guidolin has now denied having any dialogue with QPR regarding the opportunity to succeed John Gregory at Loftus Road.
“With Queens Park Rangers there has been no contact,” Guidolin told the Italian media.
Guidolin has good pedigree in Italy having won the Coppa Italia with Vicenza in 1997 as well as leading Palermo to promotion and then the Uefa Cup during his time at La Favorita.
He was sacked by the Sicilian side in April after a poor run of form, only to be reinstated 21 days later before eventually leaving permanently over the summer.
