Dexter Blackstock has penned a one-year extension to his current QPR contract.
Blackstock - who joined the R's from Southampton for an undisclosed fee in August 2006 - has put pen to paper on a new deal, which runs until the summer of 2010.
"I'm delighted to have extended my contract here," Blackstock told www.qpr.co.uk.
"I'm certain that we're going to get out of the trouble we find ourselves in, and that's why I am so pleased to have committed my future to QPR.
"Hopefully by doing this it shows just how confident I am that good times lie ahead. This Club has an exciting future and I want to be a part of it."
Blackstock enjoyed a memorable first season in W12, scoring 14 goals in all competitions and earning the Young Player of the Year accolade.
His stunning half-volley against Preston North End was crowned Goal of the Season and it was his match-winning header against Cardiff City on April 21st that guaranteed the R's Championship status.
The 21 year-old front-man was handed the coveted number nine jersey at the start of the campaign and immediately repaid the faith show in him by former gaffer John Gregory by scoring on the opening day of the season against Bristol City at Ashton Gate.
And while the goals may've dried up in recent weeks, Blackstock believes this new deal could provide the perfect fillip for him to get back amongst the goals - starting with the Sky Sports showdown with Norwich City on Monday night.
"It isn't something that is concerning me," he added. "We just need to concentrate on picking up points - that's more important than personal statistics.
"Last night's defeat to Colchester was a massive disappointment, absolutely massive.
"It's a game we should have won. Going forward we looked a lot better, but we need to improve defensively as a team. Everyone has their part to play."
Chairman Gianni Paladini commented: "Two or three Premiership Clubs came in for Dexter, but we turned them down because we want to keep our best players - and the new investment means we are in a position to do that.
