Thirty-Nine years ago today: October 8, 1968: QPR picked up their first win of the season. The circymstances were a little different. It was QPR's first-ever season in (the old) Division One! After two months of football and playing 12 League games without a win (7 losses and 5 draws - including a humiliating 0-4 home defeat against Chelsea) - QPR finally won their first in the First Division.

In a midweek game at Loftus Road (at a time, when QPR always played their midweek games on Tuesdays), QPR beat Ipswich 2-1. Bridges and Roger Morgan scoring for QPR.

[Three days later,QPR defeated Sheffield Wednesday 3-2 at Loftus Road, with Wilks, Bridges and Leach scoring, and QPR seemed to be surging.(Unfortuantely QPR lost their next 3 games 3-2 at Newcastle 3-2 at home to Man United and 3-4 at West Ham...and in fact won only two other games the rest of the season as they were relegated with a then lowest-ever number of points: 18.)

Queens Park Rangers should be backed at a top-priced 11-8 (totesport and Ladbrokes) to claim their first league win of the season at home to the similarly struggling Norwich City at Loftus Road on Monday evening. The game is live on Sky.
Rangers prop up the Coca-Cola Championship after claiming just three draws from their opening eight games, a run of form that led to the club firing John Gregory at the start of last week and appointing first-team coach Mick Harford as caretaker manager.
Harford was unable to work any instant miracles with Rangers subsequently losing 4-2 away to his former club, Colchester United, last Wednesday, yet their ability to find the net is in stark contrast to Norwich.
The Canaries, who sit three off the bottom after taking eight points from nine games, dropped into the relegation zone after a frustrating 0-0 draw against Scunthorpe at Carrow Road last Tuesday. They have now gone seven-and-three-quarter hours without scoring a goal, a sequence that has seen manager Peter Grant come under extreme pressure from disaffected fans.
Rangers’ Rowan Vine is in line to make his home debut along with on-loan Preston midfielder Jason Jarrett. However, defender Pat Kanyuka remains sidelined with a groin injury and midfielder Simon Walton is recovering from a broken leg.
The Canaries have doubts over Gary Doherty (groin), Ian Murray (foot), Adam Drury (back) and Jamie Cureton (foot), but skipper Jason Shackell returns from suspension.
