Sunday People - Ephraim blinder cheers De Canio QPR 2 Hull City 0
By Dave Lewis
Rejuvenated Rangers moved out of the bottom three for the first time in nine weeks - doing it with a dash of Italian finesse.
The fingerprints of new boss Luigi de Canio were all over a display of panache and passion, with loan Ranger Hogan Ephraim unleashing a stunning 26th-minute blast.
Mikele Leigertwood curled an equally spectacular clincher 10 minutes after the interval.
Midfielder Ephraim returns to West Ham after Tuesday's home clash with Coventry, while Rangers will seek to extend the loan period of striker Rowan Vine - who again shone in what was due to be his final match before returning to Birmingham.
With Danish striker Marc Nygaard translating, De Canio said: "I am very happy with this group of players - they have responded really well and we are moving in the right direction.
"The standard here is very good - I am here to improve things, but this is not a revolution."
De Canio - who replaced caretaker Mick Harford - eased up on the stamina training to concentrate on touch and technique. The result? Hull were made to look like mules by his pass-and-move merchants.
Another loan signing, Plymouth's Hungarian midfielder Akos Buzsaky, sparkled on his debut after displacing skipper Adam Bolder.

SUNDAY MIRROR - Football: DREAM START FOR DE CANIO John Gubba At Loftus Road 04/11/2007
Rangers fans left Loftus Road last night confident they are destined to emerge from the shadows of their West London neighbours after a dream start for new manager Luigi De Canio.
Following the £14m takeover backed by Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore, the new owners have given everyone at the club hope that they are ready to take the fast track to success.
The regime's belief in the former Naples boss at the expense of caretaker manager Mick Harford certainly paid immediate dividends as Rangers turned on the style to dismantle mid-table Hull with a confident swagger.
Stunning strikes from Hogan Ephraim and Mikele Leigertwood put the gloss on an impressive display that promises the revolution is already taking shape.
However, De Canio said: "I'm not here to start a revolution within the team. I want to continue with the group that is already here.
"At half-time I told them to keep doing what they were doing and to play with heart and to win."
Ephraim's brilliant strike after 26 minutes rewarded a positive start by a side determined to catch the eye of their new Italian coach.
The teenager on loan from West Ham cut inside and unloaded a spectacular 25-yard drive into the bottom corner.
Hull, led by ageless warrior Dean Windass and with Dean Marney a threat surging forward from midfield, were no match for a side that oozed class and quality well beyond their lowly position near the foot of the table.
Clearly inspired by their first half-time team talk by De Canio, the Super Hoops stepped up a gear after the break and won the contest with much to spare.
Leigertwood made the points safe when he picked the ball up in the middle of the park and ran 20 yards before curling in a peach of a goal that was worthy of winning any match.
Marney went on a rampaging run that ended with a well-struck shot well saved by Lee Camp. But the toothless Tigers rarely looked like threatening Rangers' superiority.
Hull manager Phil Brown said: "Our performance was unacceptable. We were outworked and that was uncharacteristic of my team.
"When the first goal went in one or two heads went down and that's not good enough."

SUNDAY MAIL - De Canio translates into instant success
Carbon-copy goals from Hogan Ephraim and Mikele Leigertwood saw Rangers celebrate the arrival of Luigi De Canio, their third manager this season, by getting out of the bottom three for the first time since the start of September.
Ephraim struck after 26 minutes, cutting in from the left flank before clipping home a shot beyond keeper Boaz Myhill.
Leigertwood made matters safe, 11 minutes after the break, with an almost identical effort.
Hull, having been thrown off their stride by Ephraim's goal, never recovered and, with veterans such as Dean Windass and Jay Jay Okocha in their side, chasing the game became a distant hope.
De Canio, using striker Marc Nygaard as an interpreter, was happy to admit that his English is still non-existent 'but I will learn fast'. If his English improves as quickly as his side, however, Nygaard, who also translated the half-time team talk, may soon find his role once more limited to the pitch.
Having been so poor under John Gregory, QPR's current form is impressive. For Hull's Phil Brown there was little to say other than that he was 'disappointed'. Mail

OBSERVER - Big day for the old boys and QPR new era is off to a flier - Jason Tomas
"...QPR's new Italian manager Luigi De Canio made an encouraging start to life in English football with a 2-0 win over Hull that lifted his team out of the relegation zone. On the evidence of this performance, he seems to have already brought a distinct Continental flavour to QPR's play. Hogan Ephraim, the 19-year-old winger on loan from West Ham, scored their first goal by evading two weak Hull challenges on a run inside from the left flank, and thumping a 25-yard shot across the Hull keeper Boaz Myhill. Mikele Leigertwood added their other goal, running with the ball at a hastily retreating Hull defence before beating Myhill with a delightful curling shot.

INDEPENDENT - Championship round-up: Ephraim gives Rangers' Italian job perfect start By Geoff Brown
Queens Park Rangers' new first-team coach, Luigi de Canio, began life at Loftus Road with a 2-0 win over Hull City that liftedthe west London club out of the bottom three. Rangers, playing with a confidence that belied their lowly position, but owed a lot to the belief instilled during Mick Harford's caretakership, led from the 26th minute. Hogan Ephraim, the on-loan West Ham winger, cut in from the left, skipped by two poor Hull tackles and fired a 25-yard shot into the right-hand corner.
The former Serie A coach saw Mikele Leigertwood wrap up the win 11 minutes into the second half with a fine drive. "I want to work with this group of players," De Canio promised. "There will be no revolution." Independent
