The Age/Michael Lynch - Victory test for ex-Villa striker
A PLAYER once rated a potential Premier League star is to arrive on Thursday for a two-week trial with Melbourne Victory.
If 24-year-old former Aston Villa and Queens Park Rangers striker Stefan Moore impresses, he is likely to join the former A-League champion.
For Moore, a move to Australia and the A-League could rekindle a career that has failed to reach the heights once promised.
The forward was a top young player and captained his home-town club Aston Villa to an FA Youth Cup success in 2002. He made 22 Premier League appearances for Villa and scored twice before moving to Queens Park Rangers in 2005.
Victory football operations manager Gary Cole said: "He's obviously got a pretty good pedigree; he's played at Villa and Queens Park Rangers without ever establishing himself as a first team player. We're not going to be able to bring out first team players from the Premiership, it's not going to happen, but we're bringing him out as a striking option to strengthen our squad. He's fast and he has shown that he can score goals." The Age
