QPR Official Site - BUZSAKY BLOW
Akos Buzsaky will miss the start of the 2008/09 campaign, after the midfielder underwent surgery on his left ankle this morning.
The Hungarian, who missed the R's final two Championship fixtures last season, is expected to be sidelined for a minimum of 12 weeks, as Head Physiotherapist Paul Hunter explained.
"It's a big blow," he told www.qpr.co.uk.
"Akos aggravated the tendon in his left ankle whilst on international duty at the end of March and although we tried to treat it extensively, the problem persisted and the specialists decided surgery was the best option."
Hunter continued: "The operation went as planned and Akos will be in plaster for a couple of weeks, which will allow the tendon to heal.
"He'll then go into a boot for a further couple of weeks which will protect the tendon while it's still healing and allow him to start working on the range and movement in his ankle."
Buzsaky was a revelation for the R's last season, scoring 11 goals in all competitions, including a stunning Goal of the Season effort against Blackpool on March 3rd." QPR
QPR Official Site - REHMAN WITHDRAWN
Zesh Rehman has been forced to withdraw from the Pakistan squad, after failing to overcome a bout of food poisoning.
The 24 year-old was due to skipper his country in the prestigious South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Cup in the Maldives, but his dream has been shattered.
Speaking exclusively to www.qpr.co.uk prior to his return to England later today, Rehman expressed his disappointment, commenting: "I'm absolutely gutted.
"I don't feel well enough and the doctors don't think I'll make a full recovery in time to feature in the latter stages of the tournament.
"I was looking forward to leading my country out, but these things happen and I'll just have to rest up and pick myself up." QPR
