QPR Official Site TALKING WOUNDED
In Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Falkirk, Matt Connolly was stretchered off after rolling his ankle when he got his studs caught in the ground. Initially, it looked like quite a bad knock but thankfully the news from the Treatment Room this evening appears encouraging.
Speaking from the team base in Stirling, Head Physio Paul Hunter told www.qpr.co.uk: "We took him to a local hospital straight after the match for an X-ray, and that came back clear, which was good.
"When we return to Harlington on Wednesday we will scan him to see what level of ligament damage he has sustained.
"He's been responding well to treatment so I am encouraged by that, but it's too early to say for definite whether he will be fit and available for the first game of the season against Barnsley."
In other news, Radek Cerny has returned to full training, as he revealed yesterday to www.qpr.co.uk. Hunter added: "He's been training for the last few days with the team and the goalkeeping coaches, and has had no adverse reaction."
Meanwhile, striker Samuel Di Carmine picked up a groin injury in training prior to leaving for Scotland on Friday, and that led to him staying back in London.
"Unfortunately Samuel suffered an adductor injury and we decided it was best for him to stay back at our Harlington training ground and work with the physio there to do some strengthening work," Hunter said.
Lastly from Scotland, Hogan Ephraim has also been requiring the attentions of Hunter. "Hogan has got a mild form of shin splints so we gave him a period of rest today," the Head Physio revealed. "We'll see how he responds to that. He's actually had it for a little while now, so a reduction in his training should aid him."
Back in London, meanwhile, Akos Buzsaky (foot) and Rowan Vine (broken leg) are continuing to make good progress.
Hunter revealed: "Akos is doing well. He has started running and is now doing the last bit of his strengthening work.
"We expect him to be in a position to return to full training with the rest of the first team in the next two weeks.
"We have to bear in mind that he hasn't had any pre-season at all, so he will need a little bit of time to get up to speed with the rest of the lads. He'll be doing extra work in order to catch up.
"Rowan's got another check-up with the surgeon in a fortnight, and we're hoping he will effectively be given the all-clear from him. That means he will be joining in with some of the running that Akos will be doing in a couple of weeks' time..." QPR
