QPR Official Site - Parejo Available
QPR have received international clearance for Daniel Parejo to feature against Barnsley this weekend.
The midfielder, who joined the Club on loan from Real Madrid earlier this week, has been catching the eye in training, but the R's have been in a race against time to gain the necessary clearance for the 19-year-old to be available to face the Tykes.
Thankfully the required paperwork is all in place, and Rangers fans can now look forward to seeing the starlet in action at Loftus Road this weekend.
With demand for tickets for Saturday's fixture at an all-time high, the Club have extended the opening hours of the Box Office to 7pm tonight (Friday), giving supporters the opportunity to snap up their tickets after work hours. We also urge fans to collect their Season Ticket books prior to Saturday's match. QPR
Goal.com - QPR Sweat On Parejo Clearance
Queens Park Rangers could be without recent loan signing, Daniel Parejo, for this weekend’s opening clash with Barnsley.
The Spanish midfielder, 19, signed a year-long loan last weekend from Real Madrid, but the R’s are yet to receive international clearance. The news could be a boost for Barnsley, who will already be buoyed by the fact that the trio of Martin Rowlands, Damien Stewart and Samuel Di Carmine will play no part in the fixture.
However, the Tykes also have some injury woes of their own. Tricky winger Jamal Campbell-Ryce dislocated his elbow during a training session and the injury has ruled him out of Barnsley’s trip to Loftus Road.
Manager Simon Davies was obviously frustrated, as he stated: "He just fell awkwardly. He would have played and we are gutted for him because he has worked so hard this summer to earn a place in the team."
In other news, despite recent speculation that the Queens Park Rangers board are already set to terminate manager Iain Dowie’s contract, it seems to have had little effect on the R’s gaffer.
Dowie is impressed with the owners’ attitude and is convinced that they are building for the long-term.
Regarding the Hoops’ new billionaire backers, the 43-year-old former Northern Ireland international said: “They have gone out and got big sponsors in which will help the club in the future, they have done the ground up so making a much more commercial enterprise. It is not similar to kids in a sweet shop… they’re doing it for a long-term objective as well, which is very important.” Ricky Brooks Goal.com

Barnsley - WE CAN BE BETTER
REDS striker Jon Macken cannot wait to get back into the thick of the action at Queens Park Rangers this weekend.
Jon said: "We are looking forward to it. Pre-season is always a difficult time because it is all about getting your fitness. This should be a great division this season and there will be a lot of big teams and wonderful games. We have worked hard, our fitness is sharp and we are ready to go. It can take a few weeks to get right back at it but we have to be ready from the off. We are prepared and I think we are at a good level to get going straight away.
"We want to be a success this season and we want to enjoy things out there. We want to move forward. Hopefully we can go out on Saturday and put on a positive performance. We want to get a result that we can build from.
"You are always under pressure to score and create goals as a striker. That is always going to be the way in football. That is what we are here for and what we get paid to do. This squad is very competitive and that can only be good and bring the best out of people. We have to play and perform if we are going to stay in the side. It is an exciting place to be and we have people to push you every game.
"We want to do better than last season. We have to aim as high as possible and we will not accept another relegation battle or just mid-table. We have a squad that is capable of so much more. We want to push on up the league and we are not aiming for just 50 points. What will 50 points get you? It will win you nothing.
"We are aiming to go out there and win every game. That is our target and we will set our stall out to do that. Everyone fancies their chances in this division so it should be a great league. We are not here to make up the numbers and we want to go out on Saturday and give a performance to show that we are capable of better than last season". Barnsley

Barnsley - QPR: LAST TIME OUT - GAFFERS VIEW
February 28, 2008
REDS boss Simon Davey gave his thoughts following tonight's draw at Oakwell.
Simon said: "It was a difficult one. We had some difficult conditions out there but we had enough chances to win it.
"We had three clear chances in the first half and could have had two penalties in the second, one for handball and one when Jon Macken was taken down. When you look at it that way I guess we are disappointed not to get all three points.
"We did not get the goal but at the end of the day it is another point". Barnsley
QPR Official Site - THE FRIDAY PREVIEW: TYKES
Posted on: Fri 08 Aug 2008
Simon Davey's men showed by beating Liverpool and Chelsea in the FA Cup last season that it is still not impossible for a Championship Club to enjoy their 15 minutes of fame.
But beating the likes of Norwich City and Coventry City proved a whole lot more problematic for the Oakwell outfit last term.
All too often Barnsley failed to replicate their fine Cup form in the League - and it very nearly cost them their Championship status.
Yet, buoyed by their fairytale run to the FA Cup Semi-Final last season, Barnsley will be out to cause more shocks this season.

And having splashed out over £1.2 million on Iain Hume in the summer, few would bet against the Tykes improving on last season's 18th place finish in the Coca Cola Championship.
Hume, who will have to shoulder a lot of the responsibility this term, arrived from relegated Leicester City in the summer and he should add more thrust to a Barnsley attack which relies all too often on star-man Brian Howard.
Howard was undoubtedly the Tykes' star turn during the 2007/08 campaign, scoring 14 goals in all competitions, including that priceless winner against Rafa Benitez's men in the FA Cup Quarter-Final at Anfield.
His continued presence at Oakwell, coupled with the signing of French winger Mounir El Haimour and Hume's arrival, certainly suggests Barnsley will be a far stronger outfit in the final third this season.
But it could be at the other end of the park where Barnsley grind out the majority of their points this season.
The permanent capture of goalkeeper Luke Steele was met with vocal agreement by the Tykes faithful, while the capture of experienced defender Darren Moore can't be overlooked either, with the veteran defender penning a two-year deal at Oakwell after being told his services were no longer required at Derby County.
The proof will be in the pudding in a few months time, but for now, the Tykes look positively set to improve upon last season's flat and rather disappointing conclusion to their Championship campaign.

Barnsley STriker Signing
Reds line up loan striker
By Simon Meeks
BARNSLEY were today talking to Blackburn Rovers' Dutch striker, Maceo Rigters, about a loan deal.
The clubs have agreed a move and if the 24-year-old accepts personal terms he could make his debut at QPR tomorrow.
He went on loan to Championship rival Norwich last season but tore his hamstring in April.
In the summer of 2007 Celtic and Newcastle were linked with the centre-forward from NAC Breda who won the golden boot at the 2007 European Under-21 Championships, as the tournament's top scorer with four.
Blackburn paid an undisclosed fee for him but he made only one appearance in the FA Cup and two off the bench for the Premier League outfit, scoring once before going to Norwich.
Barnsley training casualty Jamal Campbell-Ryce could be back in business for Barnsley inside a week.
The Jamaican international winger suffered a shock pre-season injury, falling awkwardly during training yesterday and ruling himself out of tomorrow's match at QPR. But news from the hospital was as good as could be expected.
"It's a dislocated elbow. He's out for the weekend but they'll reset it and he could be back by next weekend," relieved Barnsley boss Simon Davey explained.
Campbell-Ryce even has an outside chance of playing in Tuesday's Carling Cup tie at Crewe.
Barnsley were leaving for London today and this morning still had not received international clearance to play Miguel Mostto or Hugo Colace.
It is hoped Mostto's paperwork will be clear late this afternoon. Colace's case is likely to take longer.
n Meanwhile, Sheffield United manager Kevin Blackwell has told his players that this season's battle for promotion will be settled in their own minds.
Blackwell's arrival at Bramall Lane last term coincided with a remarkable improvement in results which saw the South Yorkshire side climb from midtable to within touching distance of a top-six finish.
As his team prepare to begin their latest assault on the Premier League at Birmingham tomorrow, Blackwell said: "The way the lads signed off shows that they are good enough."
