Rs winger claims speculation over manager is unfair
- QPR winger Lee Cook believes under-pressure manager Iain Dowie is the right man for the job and the recent speculation surrounding his future is undeserved.
- The Rs began the season with promotion aspirations, but one point from a possible 12 has seen Dowie's troops slide outside the top 10 and raise question marks over the manager's job security.
- Cook, who is on loan from Fulham, was brought back to the club he left in 2007 by Dowie at the start of this season, and he told skysports.com that the manager has the players' backing.
- "We've had a really good start and we are through to the fourth round of the Carling Cup, which we haven't done for a very long time," he told skysports.com.
"A few of the fans are getting excited, but we need to remember how far we've come in such a short space of time.
Confident
"We are confident in the manager and all the players are enjoying working for him, so it's just a case of getting back to winning a ways so that the speculation can be put to bed."
QPR entertain strugglers Nottingham Forest on Saturday and Cook knows that it will be a tough game despite the newly-promoted side's slow start to life in the Championship.
"Everyone's going to expect us to win that game, but we are not going to take them lightly because every game in this division is hard," he continued.
"We are all confident about winning on Saturday and it's an important game for us considering the run we've been on recently. It's a chance to put things right again."
Patience
The Rs' recent run of poor results has coincided with a lack of goals from their strike force, with just one scored in the last four games, but Cook believes they will find their touch sooner rather than later.
He said: "At the start of the season we were scoring for fun, so I think we are just going through a sticky patch at the moment.
"We've got quality attacking players who can score goals for the team, so I don't think we are too worried as the goals should come sooner rather than later.
"For our sakes I hope that's the case because we need to score goals to win games and we've been pretty solid at the back lately, only conceding the odd goal." Sky Sports
