Leeds Official Site - UNITED IN POSITIVE MODE
United will adopt a positive attitude in tonight's tough-looking Championship clash against Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road.
"I want us to be a threat so we are going down there to be as positive as we can be," manager Kevin Blackwell said. "A team that lost their first game of the season, as QPR did, are always likely to be dangerous in their second match because everyone knows that to get your first three points is a tremendous psychological thing.
"The quicker you get your first three points the better. It's of paramount importance. We got ours on Saturday and I'm delighted about that. But I am only really concerned with how we perform. I think the players we have deserve an immense amount of credit. They won't always get things right but they will try," he added.
The Gaffer agreed that this season the Championship is likely to be tougher than it was last time out. "We have got to try to handle it and we will do that to the best of our ability.
"We will aim to be a little more positive at home and away, although our away record last season was as good as any. We will make sure tonight that we have a good attitude. It is our attitude that matters," he said.
But at this very early stage of the season, you won't find the Gaffer talking publicly about setting any targets. "If you do that and don't achieve them then it puts you on a downer straight away. What we do look at, though, is being in or around the top ten by the end of September. If you're there, you have a solid start to the season and a platform on which to build," he added.
