An interesting philosophical question: What is the purpose of a club's web site? To provide information? To provide a certain "perspective"? To put those running the club in the best light? To let fans know what the club wants them/or thinks they "should" know? Or what? Obviously views may differ...and whether other club sites are any more forthcoming is also an interesting issue
Among the recent developments - large and small- NOT reported - or announced (or reported/discussed elsewhere but not refuted)- on the club's Official Site...
- QPR Winger Lee Cook was in this week's "Championship Team of the Week."
(QPR made a big deal the previous week when Jimmy Smith was named to the "Championship Team of the week Other clubs seem to announce news that their players have been selected for the team of the week.)
- QPR loan forward, Steffan Moore has supposedly returned (injured) from being on loan with Port Vale.
(Moore's return was reported in press stories; but no mention on the official site)
- QPR Goalie, Paul Jones, NOT being selected for the Welsh Squad
- That Chief Financial Officer Chris Pennington has left the club.
(His name just deleted from the Staff Page.) Earlier this year, Pennington's departure was announced on the official site - as has some other staff departures. Then his "non departure" was announced a couple months later.)
- That QPR have a new Financial Officer, Akin Yilmaz
(No announcement whatsoever. Just his name appearing on the Club's Directory)
- And most recently, the reported (on fan messageboards) departure of Chief Operating Officer, Graham Mackrell some ten weeks after his appointment was announced.
- The reasons for/circumstances under which ousted manager Gary Waddock left the club just a couple of weeks after Chairman Gianni Paladini and new manager John Gregory announced that they wanted him to stay and that he was staying.
(Instead there was an October 19 official announcement "Queens Park Rangers Football Club have parted company with Gary Waddock....")
- The fact that former coach, Tim Breaker is apparently STILL employed by QPR, some nine months after being placed on gardening leave (even as Ian Holloway is attempting to bring him to Plymouth.
- There was also no announcement on "the departure" of LONG-TIME (several decade)programme statician, Derek Buxton.
- There has been no announcement about Paladini's August 1 statement in which referring to the Evening Standard report, Paladini declared "I have been advised it is libellous and our lawyers will be contacting the Standard immediately to demand a retraction..."
And these are just some of the recent things - things that are out in the "public realm" or alleged on fan sites - that the club or the Chairman might comment on - or at least announce!
Fans might further be interested for example, about news about the various players signed by Paladini and Waddock in the summer, who are not currently in the team. And of course various off-the-field financial issues continue to be something to be considered. The Chairman for example has never commented on the results of "The Trial" which was under way six months ago.
Anyway, coming in the near future, the Chairman's published response in the fan magazine, AKUTRs to their article for which AKUTRs apologized, etc
