Michael Mancienne Expected to Stay The Season Ben Kosky/Kilburn Times
QPR are confident Michael Mancienne will follow Chelsea team-mate Jimmy Smith by opting to stay at Loftus Road for the rest of the season.... "The signs are very good," said Gregory. "I believe José [Mourinho] is very positive about Michael staying to the end of the season. "I don't think we're ever going to be able to afford him, but he's playing his heart out for QPR and he and Jimmy will eventually go back to Chelsea as better players."
Mancienne himself admitted he would be happy to remain with Rangers after his three months are up - and would also recommend a similar move to other Stamford Bridge team-mates starved of first-team football. He said: "It'd definitely suit me - I want to stay in the first team and I don't want to go back to the reserves this season, no way. "The other lads at Chelsea are all asking me and Jimmy how it's going, they're keen to go out on loan as well and I'd definitely tell anyone to come here if they get a chance."
Potential arrivals, though, do not include Chelsea's French midfielder Lassana Diarra, although Gregory did make an inquiry about borrowing him last month.
The Rangers manager added: "We've chanced our arm with Diarra and I don't think the boy wants to play in the Championship - it's more likely he'll go to another Premiership side, I think."...
"... Gregory ... astonishingly offered support to Mourinho's controversial idea to enter a B team in the Football League. ... Gregory observed: "It does happen in a lot of leagues throughout Europe and we've tried so many formats with reserve team football, making it regional and so on. "But it hasn't got that competitive edge where you can actually win something at the end of the season. "I think it's a great suggestion and the Football League should do something about it. "Maybethe lads are looking over their shoulders a bit at the moment, but I can assure you the team spirit is still very strong at QPR.
We went out for a bit of team bonding on Monday - it wasn't a big Christmas party, more just a get-together for something to eat up in Covent Garden and no talking about football....!
Seriously, it's a big blow for us to lose Marc [Nygard]. He'll always run that extra yard for you, always looks a threat and, in terms of games started and goals scored, he's got a pretty good ratio.
Sadly, he's also injury prone and it's when you're missing people that everyone has to pull together....
But having your two out and out wingers injured at the same is always going to have an effect and, although we seem to be defending a lot better, we're having a very dry patch in front of goal.
I think January's going to be a massive month for QPR - there's no doubt that a lot of things will be changing and I'm confident the gaffer is the man to change them.
In the meantime, I've got to concentrate on getting fit and spending Christmas with my girlfriend Donna and our new son, Kane Presley Ainsworth, who was born last week.
And hopefully the lads can give all the Rangers fans an early Christmas present with three points on Saturday. I've been at other clubs where, if results are going badly, the supporters stopped turning up, but that doesn't happen at QPR and we all appreciate your support.... Kilburn Times
