Finnish defender checks in at QPR -By EuropeanFootballNews.co.uk - December 29 2006
Finnish defender Sampsa Timoska has finalised his move to QPR, as reported by EuropeanFootballNews.co.uk earlier. The former MyPa defender has trained with the team for the most of December and will now be officially unveiled as their newest addition.
The 27-year-old Finnish international has been touted in the press to join the Loftus Road side for some time, as exclusively revealed by EuropeanFootballNews.co.uk on mid November. The transfer was completed in early December, but only now made official for the press.
"We talked with the gaffer (John Gregory) that I'd be fully fit and ready to play at the beginning of January, but a regular place in the starting eleven would perhaps not be realistic straight from the beginning", Timoska told MyPa's official web page.
"The gaffer planned to play me in central position, but he's also asked me if I can play a wide role in the defence".
Timoska has been one of the best defenders in the Finnish Veikkausliiga over the past years, and a tranfers to a more high-profile league was only a matter of time.
