Loan-signing Inigo Idiakez has returned to Southampton after being recalled by the south-coast outfit.
Idiakez, 33, had joined QPR on loan for the remainder of the season, but a clause in his contract gave the Saints the option to recall him at 24 hours notice, and his manager George Burley has activated this clause.
Rangers boss John Gregory said: "It is unfortunate but I do appreciate the predicament that George finds himself in.
"As Inigo was into his second month with us, Southampton had a 24-hour recall option, so ultimately we had no choice with this.
"We will miss him and take this opportunity to thank him for his contribution whilst he was here."
Idiakez made five appearances for the R's, scoring one goal in our 3-1 win at Leicester City in March. QPR Official Site
Shame: A big contrast to the good news, just over a week ago when QPR announced Idiakez was staying (with the proviso of the 24-hour recall)

LOAN RANGER
Inigo Idiakez has today (Thursday) agreed a deal to extend his loan spell with the R's until the end of the season.
The Spaniard - who has made four appearances, scoring one goal, since joining the R's on loan from Southampton - is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, but is expected to play some part in the R's Easter weekend double-header.
Gaffer John Gregory believes Idiakez's experience will play a crucial role in the run-in, commenting: "I'm delighted we've been able to secure his services until the end of the season.
"He's made a real difference since he arrived here and although his hamstring injury has ruled him out of the last couple of fixtures, he'll have a huge role to play over the next four weeks.''
The Club received clearance from the Football League just after 5.30pm tonight, although Saints have the option to recall the player at 24 hours notice.
