Press Quote! "Kevin Gallen was the Wayne Rooney of his day when he came through the ranks at QPR in the mid-1990s..."

From the 30th April Mirror report of Plymouth 2 Preston 0

"...Argyle striker Kevin Gallen was the Wayne Rooney of his day when he came through the ranks at QPR in the mid-90s and took the Premiership by storm.
He played for England Under-21s and even had Sir Alex Ferguson enquiring after him after his first season.
Gallen, 31, changed the contest when he came on and is fighting to earn another deal at Home Park.
And his message for Nugent was that he should move into the top flight at the earliest opportunity.
He said: "It was strange to see him coming off. A player like that only needs one opportunity to score and is always a threat regardless of how he is playing.

"People might look at the fact that Preston went on to lose the game after he was substituted but they needed to win and the manager had to make a decision.
"For the first time in his career David is probably going through a rough patch. His form has suffered along with that of his team's.
"I remember what it was like when so much is expected of you and sometimes it can get a bit too much.
"I think he should leave Preston and try his luck in the best league. He's at an age where he needs to be testing himself if he is to get more involved with England."
Preston boss Paul Simpson said: "The form we have shown of late has not been that of a top six team. I have no idea why we have been losing games at such a key point in our season." Mirror
