John Gregory has welcomed the news that Rangers will be hosting Leyton Orient in round one of the Carling Cup.
Speaking exclusively to www.qpr.co.uk, Gregory revealed his delight at the home draw: "Everybody wants to be drawn at home in the first round, so in that respect it's a good draw.
"The draw is regionalised and seeded, so we knew the kind of opposition we'd draw out of the hat.
"The O's should bring a few down from Brisbane Road, so it's got all the makings of a good Cup tie.''
After the highs of promotion just over 12 months ago, Orient narrowly avoided the dreaded drop straight back into League Two last season, eventually finishing one place outside the relegation zone in the third tier of English Football.
However, having witnessed a few Cup upsets in his time, Gregory isn't about to rest on his laurels.
"It (the fixture) comes very early in the season and it will certainly be a tough test, but we'll be ready, fully focused and up for the battle,'' he said.
"We'll undoubtedly go into the tie as favorites and rightly so.''
The financial revenue a good Cup run can generate isn't lost on Gregory either: "The extra revenue a Cup run generates is vital to a Club like ours,'' he told www.qpr.co.uk.
"We could generate a vast amount of money that hasn't been budgeted for and that's a huge incentive to go on a nice Cup run."
Gregory was appointed into the R's hot-seat in the wake of our Carling Cup second round exit at Port Vale last season and it's a match he remembers fondly, although not entirely for all the right reasons.
"The last time I saw a QPR side play in the Carling Cup, I was thinly disguised, sitting amongst the Vale fans in the 3-2 defeat at Vale Park!'' he said.
"It was a bit of an eye-opening experience that night, but that's in the past now and I'm hopeful we'll be in far better shape by the time we welcome Orient to Loftus Road

Orient Official Site - O's To Face QPR In Carling Cup
ORIENT have been drawn to face Queens Park Rangers in the first round of the Carling Cup.
The game will take place at Loftus Road in the week commencing August 13.
QPR, who are managed by John Gregory, had a tough time last season, finishing a lowly 18th in the Championship.
However, despite their divisional advantage, Orient will have history on their side as last time they met in the competition in 2002, it was The O's who progressed, winning 3-2.
O's boss Martin Ling said: "We haven't been past the first round of the Carling Cup for the past few year's now so we want to put that right this season.
QPR will provide us with a tough test, but we will be giving it our best shot and hopefully it can be the start of a good cup run." Orient
