Raving About Balanta

Bucks Free Press - 'Wycombe fans are in for a treat'
- WANDERERS legend Steve Brown has told Blues fans they are in for a real treat with the capture of Angelo Balanta from QPR on a two-month loan.
- Brown, who is the youth team coach at Loftus Road, worked with the 18-year-old Colombian before he was fast-tracked into the Hoops’ first team squad and says he is a one-off.
- Brown said: “As soon as I saw him I could see that he was one of those few players that only comes around once every so often.
- “He is one of those kids that breaks the mould and I was excited by him the first time I saw him.
- “He has got so much talent. The Wycombe fans are in for a real treat in the two months that he is there.
- “I am just glad that the Wycombe fans have got the opportunity to watch someone like him because he will have them on the edge of their seats. He can score goals and he can create goals.”
- Balanta gave Wycombe fans a tantalising glimpse of his skills in a stunning introduction to the Adams Park crowd during Saturday’s 1-0 win over promotion rivals Bradford City.
- Introduced as a half time substitute, he toyed with the Bantams setting up Lewis Hunt’s winner and going close to a goal himself.
- Boss Peter Taylor said: “We’re delighted we’ve got him. He is a terrific player. He did brilliantly for the goal and his awareness is different class. He is a strong boy who doesn’t panic and hopefully he will keep doing that for us.
- “I really respect QPR for letting him come out on loan. Sometimes you keep somebody in the building but they are helping him progress by letting him come here and play first team football.
- “It’s good for him and hopefully brilliant for us. I would love to keep him for about five years. He’s a lovely lad who is desperate to play first team football.
- “I’ve only worked with him for two days in training and after just two days with him I think we know we are dealing with a really good player here.”
