- Rowan Vine's comeback from the fractured leg injury that has kept him sidelined since early April took a positive twist today (Wednesday), with the news that the strikers' latest surgery was a glowing success.
- The 26 year-old front-man sustained the injury during a freak training ground incident at the end of last season, but has suffered a frustrating waiting game since then.
- However, following scan results today, Vine is set to step up his rehabilitation in the next few days, as Head Physio, Paul Hunter, explained: "The second operation has gone very well," he told www.qpr.co.uk.
- "The surgeon is very happy with the outcome and the fracture itself is showing great signs of recovery.
- "We've had the green light to increase the intensity of Rowan's training program, which is a massive boost for everyone connected to the Club."
Hunter was reluctant to forecast a date for Vine's return, but added: "We've got another X-Ray scheduled in for six weeks time, and we are confident that will be the final time he has to visit the surgeon.
- "Rowan is very relieved, as we all are, and we can really kick on from here in terms of his rehabilitation.
- "He's been a model professional throughout the rehabilitation process and now there's some light at the end of the tunnel, I'm sure he'll show an even greater desire to return to the fold as soon as possible." QPR


BBC - Sousa eager to bring in new faces
- Queens Park Rangers manager Paulo Sousa says he has a Christmas wish-list but is happy with his current squad if he cannot sign new faces in January.
- Rangers visit Charlton on Boxing Day hoping to climb into the Championship play-off positions.
- Sousa told BBC London 94.9: "I know already what we need to increase our quality as a team.
- "The club knows what I want, if we get them it's good for us. If we don't, for me, we have enough."
Rangers are just a point off the play-offs going into Friday's match at the Valley but have struggled away from home this season.
Charlton, meanwhile, are joint bottom of the table but Sousa says he is not underestimating his London rivals.
He added: "I said after my first game here against Charlton it is one of the best teams playing football and I hope they start to win but after they play us." BBC


This is Nottingham - Camp wants to stay at Forest
- Lee Camp is hoping to extend his stay at Nottingham Forest and "complete the job" by steering the club clear of relegation trouble. But he admitted: "It's out of my hands."
- Reds boss Colin Calderwood is keen to sign the QPR keeper and fellow loan signing Joel Lynch permanently, but he admits there is some work to be done before that can happen.
- Camp and Brighton defender Lynch are on lengthy contracts at their parent clubs, and both could play their last game for Forest at Norwich on Sunday.
Camp said: "It's not really 'job done' for me, because I came here to see things through. But it's out of my hands.
- "Players have a certain amount of power but they are also contracted to clubs, and we have to do as we are told.
- "If it all ends after Norwich I have had a fantastic couple of months here. I have some great memories – not least going back to Pride Park and saving that last-minute penalty."
- Calderwood says Forest are in negotiations with QPR, who are understood to be willing to sell Camp. The Reds are also talking to Brighton about Lynch.
- "We are progressing, we are talking to the clubs and the players," the Reds boss said. "We will try to sort things out so they are playing with us in the second half of the season.-
- "In a perfect world we are looking to make them permanent signings.
- "But our league position and what the other clubs want to do are factors."
Camp has another three-and-a-half seasons to run on his contract at Loftus Road, while Lynch is understood to have two-and-a-half years remaining on his deal.
Calderwood said: "Lee's (contract) is more of a problem than Joel's.
- "I want to keep them both. They have both played an important role for us.
"Lee in particular has had a major impact in the dressing room, with his maturity, and Joel is another young player and made a big impression early on. ...." Nottingham Evening Post
