QPR Official Site - THE FRIDAY PREVIEW: TYKES
- Rangers travel to Oakwell - the home of struggling Barnsley - on Saturday afternoon, for another crucial Championship encounter.
- Simon Davey's men currently lie perilously close to the relegation trap door, having registered just a solitary victory in their last eight outings in all competitions.
- Yet, with two games in hand on many of their closest rivals towards the foot of the table, the Tykes will be hopeful that they have enough gas in the tank to stave off the threat of demotion to the third tier.
- However, they may have to do so without the presence of inspirational skipper Stephen Foster, who could be sidelined tomorrow owing to a reoccurrence of a hernia problem.
- The 28 year-old underwent an operation to fix the problem, but aggravated it again last weekend and could miss the R's visit to Oakwell.
- Since Foster`s return to the side, the Reds have kept back-to-back clean sheets against Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton, picking up four points along the way.
- But his potential absence, coupled with the loss of suspended centre-half Darren Moore this weekend, could leave Davey with just Dennis Souza as the only natural central defender at the Club.
- Despite his defensive conundrum, Davey is in upbeat mood ahead of the visit of the R's, commenting: "We always want to play well and win in style but I would take picking up four points from six for the rest of the season like we have done in the last week.
- "Yes, it is important to put on a show, win and perform well, but at the moment the results are all important.
- "We want to go out and play well on Saturday and get the result - but I'm sure everybody will be happy if we win the game even if the performance isn't good."
- The R's have failed to win on their last seven visits to Oakwell, so what better time to start than this weekend, at a ground where the spoils were shared in a 0-0 draw last season.
- Team News
- Simon Davey will be without suspended duo Darren Moore and Jamal Campbell-Ryce for the visit of the R's to Oakwell.
- Skipper Stephen Foster faces a race against time to be fit owing to a hernia problem, and Marciano Dan Homoet has a groin injury and is unlikely to feature.
- Diego Leon (hamstring), Michael Coulson (knee) and Iain Hume (fractured skull) all remain on the sidelines.
- However, Dennis Souza could return, while Adam Hammill, Martin Devaney and Mounir El Haimour are all fighting for a place in midfield. QPR
