Doncaster Official Site - Stock A Doubt For Rangers
Doncaster Rovers midfielder and captain Brian Stock has been rated as 'extremely doubtful' for Tuesday evening's clash against Queens Park Rangers at Keepmoat Stadium.
- The 28 year-old suffered back spasms on Saturday morning and, despite starting the contest between Rovers and Cardiff at Ninian Park, was withdrawn just after the half-hour mark.
- "Brian Stock was a massive doubt before the Cardiff game and we probably took a chance that didn't come off," said Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll.
- "At this minute in time, he is extremely doubtful. He's always played on and he's always felt alright, because it's one of those backs where he can wake up and it is fine. He was fine but he had a long coach journey and I think that was part of the problem. A game in midweek also didn't help and he's got progressively worse. Normally, he gets progressively better, so unless he wakes up tomorrow morning and he thinks he's fine - which has actually happened before - he won't make it. He's with the specialist at the minute having another look at it. It's one of those where we can get him through until the end of the season and then sort the problem out - but he's got to be fit to play in this league and with the pace and intensity of it; you can't play at half-pace.
- He's a big player for us, but he can be a big liability for us if he's not right. He plays in a position that influences a lot of what we do. So, this has been a lesson learned. It will require a routine operation, which will keep him out for six or so weeks. It's one of those things that can be sorted and it's not like it's one of those things that we don't know about. We're going to try and manage it the best we can and so far, we have been doing that really well - but we didn't on Saturday, I'm afraid."
- Meanwhile, striker Paul Heffernan was back in training this morning (Monday) and could be set to feature against QPR on Tuesday evenining. Doncaster
