David McIntyre/BBC 606 - Planning for next season
- Rangers are lining up Arsenal midfielder Amaury Bischoff and Chelsea left-back Jordan Tabor as the club plans for next season.
- French-born playmaker Bischoff is 22 and played for Strasbourg and German club Werder Bremen before signing for Arsenal last summer. He made his first-team debut against Wigan in this season’s Carling Cup.
- Bischoff, whose long-term future at Arsenal is unclear, has been pencilled in to play for Rangers in a scheduled friendly in Bahrain next month.
- He’s talented and would be an interesting signing. But playing in that kind of friendly won’t reveal much about a player with outstanding technical ability who might find the going tough in the Championship.
- There has also been some debate about Bischoff’s best position. Like Akos Buzsaky, he can play in central midfield, out wide or behind a striker.
- Where he might fit in once Buzsaky returns to fitness remains to be seen.
- Tabor, 18, has a sweet left foot and can play on the wing as well as at full-back. He has been invited to train with Rangers and could feature for the reserves against Reading today.
- Bischoff and Tabor have been earmarked for some time and Rangers have moved quickly to get them on board for next season.
- Dele Adebola probably wouldn’t be the first name QPR fans had in mind as a summer signing, but his Bristol City contract expires soon and it’s looking increasingly likely that Rangers will pick him up on a Bosman free transfer.
- Enquiries have also been made about Swansea midfielder Darren Pratley, who would be a decent addition but not as good a signing as his team-mate Ferrie Bodde in my view. " BBC 606
