QPR Official Site - R'S MEET GRECIANS IN ROUND ONE
- QPR will travel to League One outfit Exeter City in the first round of the Carling Cup.
- Tuesday's draw paired Jim Magilton's men with the League One side, in a tie to be played in the week commencing August 10th 2009.
- Rangers enjoyed a memorable run to the fourth round stage of the competition last season. After disposing of Swindon Town, Carlisle United and Premier League side Aston Villa in the opening three rounds, the R's were handed another plum tie, with a trip to Old Trafford - the home of European Champions, Manchester United - in round four. Despite a brave and gutsy performance, Carlos Tevez's 76th minute spot-kick won it for the Red Devils, who then went on to lift the trophy with victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the Final. More reaction to follow… QPR

Oxford Daily Mail/Jon Murray - Dexter eyes Oxford United reunion
- Dexter Blackstock says he desperately wants to still be at QPR at the end of July so that he can play in the pre-season friendly at his old club Oxford United.
- The 23-year-old striker, a product of Oxford United's youth system who moved to Southampton for £275,000 before he had broken into the U's first team, has been at Loftus Road since 2006.
- However, he was loaned out to Nottingham Forest at the end of last season – in a move that surprised QPR fans – and there has been speculation that Forest want to take him on a permanent basis this summer after he helped them avoid relegation from the Championship.
- But Blackstock, who was in Oxford yesterday to set up his own soccer school starting this autumn, would love to return to the Kassam Stadium for the pre-season friendly on Friday, July 24.
- "I'm really looking forward to playing in that game at Oxford," he said. "I've never actually played at the Kassam Stadium, although I have trained on it a lot!
- "But Oxford United was the club where it all started for me."
- Growing up in Blackbird Leys and Cowley, Blackstock has gone on to become one of the most successful products of United's youth system.
- He played for England Under 18s, 19s, 20s and 21s, scored a hat-trick on his Southampton debut – in a Carling Cup game against Colchester – and then endeared himself to Saints fans by scoring against local rivals Portsmouth.
- After successful loan spells with Plymouth Argyle and Derby County, and then around 30 games for South-ampton, he moved from St Mary's Stadium to QPR for £500,000 and has so far hit 32 goals in 96 starts for Rangers.
- He notched two goals in six games for Forest as they hauled themselves out of the drop zone and City Ground boss Billy Davies has sung his praises.
- Despite spending the final six weeks at Forest, Blackstock finished QPR's leading goalscorer last season, and their new manager, Jim Magilton – the popular former Oxford United midfielder – is reported to be a big admirer.
- Magilton's official first day in the QPR hot seat is today, when he will be assessing Blackstock, who has one year left on his contract, and other squad members, before deciding which summer signings to go after.
- Blackstock's soccer schools, around Oxfordshire, meanwhile, will be for kids aged six-14 with qualified coaches, and he says he's not doing it for the money.
- In fact, he’s donating a percentage of the profits to charity.
- "Many kids know me from doing a lot of presentations in the area," he said. "I will get a real buzz out of doing my own soccer school and if just one kid out of 50 goes on to have a career as a professional footballer, that's a success."
