Sporting Life - GORMAN PLAYS DOWN BRIATORE INFLUENCE
- John Gorman insists he and QPR boss Jim Magilton are under no illusions about the task facing them at Loftus Road.
- Magilton this summer became the fifth permanent manager to be named by Flavio Briatore in less then two years.
- Briatore's reign as chairman has been controversial, with reports suggesting his influence at times stretches to selecting the team, but assistant boss Gorman is not fazed by the Italian's reputation.
- "Jim and I knew what we were taking on when we took the job," said Gorman.
- "We feel we are strong enough to handle it and have a good relationship with the people above us." Sporting Life
Previously: Sporting Life - MAGILTON HAPPY WITH FLAVIO ROLE
- QPR boss Jim Magilton insists he will have no problem with chairman Flavio Briatore's input into the running of the club.
- Formula One chief Briatore has adopted a 'hands-on' role during his reign at Loftus Road, with reports claiming he has in the past even had a say in team selection.
- But Magilton, who is the fourth permanent manager appointed by Briatore in less than two years, is confident he can stamp his character on the west London club.
- "There is nothing wrong with people giving their opinions, but at the end of the day I will live and die by my opinions and my decisions," he said.
- "If you have bought a football club I think you have earned the right to have an opinion. I value people's opinions and I value the opinions of everyone at the club - but in the end they'll agree that I'm right!" SPorting Life
QPR Official Site - GAZ: THE TIME WAS RIGHT
- Gareth Ainsworth has spoken for the first time about his decision to return to the First Team ranks solely as a player.
- Having been named as part of Iain Dowie's backroom staff at the start of last season and then gone on to fill in as Caretaker Manager on two occasions during the 2008/09 campaign, Ainsworth made new R's gaffer Jim Magilton aware of his intentions to be treated solely as a playing professional earlier this summer.
- And speaking exclusively to www.qpr.co.uk about the decision, Ainsworth said: "I think the best thing for everyone was for me to get back to being a player. Not for me, not for anyone else - but for QPR.
- "Last season came a little bit too early for me. We needed a fresh start this summer and the new set-up here is looking great."
- Ainsworth added: "It's still very early days, but we're looking really sharp.
- "It's great to be around the lads again and I'm loving every minute.
- "The gaffer knows what he's going to get from me - the leadership, the fitness and the will-to-win. I'll always keep grafting for this Football Club."
- *You can hear more of Gareth Ainsworth's exclusive thoughts tomorrow on QPR World, when - amongst other things - he discusses an agonising final hole defeat to Martin Rowlands and Gavin Mahon for himself and Peter Ramage at the Hotel Livada golf course. QPR
