LONDON INFORMER/Ealing Gazette - Paul Warburton - QPRs' second team become the big shot
- QPR struck the deal of pre-season this week when they got a reserve ground for the price of a friendly match.
- Rangers' second string will play all their games next season at Aldershot's EBB Stadium, formerly the Recreation Ground - and also the League Two club that just happens to be managed by former Rs boss Gary Waddock, who was sacked by QPR the season before last.
- But there was no animosity between the club that officially appointed him three years ago this week, and the Shots, when they were told they could keep the proceeds from the Aldershot versus Rangers match at the EBB on Saturday week (July 11).
- Rs have just shelled out about £300,000 for a new state-of-theart pitch at Loftus Road after it came in for stick last season from their own players.
- New boss Jim Magilton wants the pristine surface to stay that way, with nothing but QPR first-team games likely to disturb the manicured grass.
- And Waddock too welcomed the move that sees his old club handily placed for any prospective loan deals.
- He said: "It enables Aldershot, as a club, to develop really good, positive links with a Championship outfit.
- "That's something I want to encourage."

- QPR have told Stoke City Akos Buzsaky will cost them £5million.
- The Premiership side enquired about the Hungarian international midfielder last night (Thursday), but were told to forget any thoughts of a deal unless they meet Rs' steep valuation.

In truth, Hoops have no intention of selling Buzsaky, who missed all but the first few games of last season through injury. Rs are desperate to keep their squad together, but have been overwhelmed by the number of offers they have received for their players so far.

A club insider said: "We must have been doing something right, despite not winning promotion, because the amount of calls Rangers have received from other clubs has taken everyone by surprise."

Buzsaky joined his team-mates in training yesterday for the first time in nine months.

But there might be gaps in the ranks by the time the season starts if the phone hasn't stopped ringing by deadline day on August 31.

Meanwhile, Damien Delaney's £1m switch to Ipswich was in danger last night after both Coventry and Cardiff made late enquiries for the Irish left-back.

Mikele Leigertwood interests newly-promoted Wolves, as well as former club Sheffield United and Bolton, and cheeky enquiries for winger Wayne Routledge, defender Damion Stewart and Matt Connolly, from unnamed clubs, all found their way into the Rangers bin.

Gavin Mahon is wanted by Scunthorpe - but new boss Jim Magilton is unwilling to part with anyone until he sees how his squad shapes up over the next week or so.

A source said: "It may be he might even want to keep Dexter Blackstock, and perhaps a deal can be done to prevent the striker from going to Nottingham Forest - everything is possible at the moment."

That is except for the arrival of Tugay, from Blackburn and Darius Vassell, from Manchester City.

Reports have it that both Premiership stalwarts are on their way to west London.

"Not a chance," said the source. " Ealing Gazette
