- Jay Simpson admits a positive meeting with Manager Jim Magilton convinced him a move to Loftus Road was the right one to make at this stage of his career.
- Having spoken to a number of other Clubs, including no fewer than three top-flight outfits, Simpson had a whole host of options at his disposal.
- But the lure of regular football, coupled with the ambition of the Club, convinced him that W12 would be his next port of call.
- "I met up with the Manager and I was very impressed by what he had to say," he told www.qpr.co.uk.
- "There's great ambition at this Football Club and I am a very ambitious person, so we were on the same wavelength from the first minute."
- Simpson - who is in line to make his QPR debut against Scunthorpe United on Saturday - added: "I'm here to play football and win football matches.

- QPR have swooped to bring highly-rated Arsenal striker Jay Simpson to Loftus Road on a season long loan deal.
- The 20 year-old starlet has penned a deal until the end of the current campaign, providing Manager Jim Magilton with further competition for places in the attacking third.
- QPR beat off interest from a number of other Clubs, including three Premiership outfits, to secure the services of the young Gunner.
- Speaking exclusively to www.qpr.co.uk, Magilton expressed his delight at the deal, commenting: "Jay is a fine young player, who will prove to be a quality addition to the squad.
- "He's already shown glimpses of his quality at Arsenal and during loan spells elsewhere, and we'll be looking for him to continue his progression under our guidance.
- "There's no doubt he's got all the attributes to be a top, top player, but he needs games, and we're delighted we've been given the opportunity by Arsenal to provide him with a platform to showcase his ability."
- After joining Arsenal at the tender age of nine, Simpson was named on the Gunners' bench for the first time in October 2006.
- Five months later, he became the first ever player to score a hat-trick at The Emirates Stadium, for Arsenal's Under-18 side in a 3-2 FA Youth Cup win against Cardiff City.
- In August 2007, he joined Millwall on loan, where he the earned the accolade of PFA Fans' Player of the Year.
- Upon his return to Arsene Wenger's squad, Simpson made his full debut in a 6-0 Carling Cup win over Sheffield United, before bagging his first two senior goals for the Club in a League Cup tie at home to Wigan Athletic in his first senior start for the Club in November 2008.
One month later, he signed a new contract at Arsenal, but was loaned out to West Bromwich Albion for the remainder of the season.
He went on to make 16 appearances for the Baggies, scoring two goals, before returning to The Emirates at the end of the 2008/09 campaign.
Simpson - who has represented England at Under-17 and Under-18 level - is expected to go straight into the R's squad for Saturday's trip to Scunthorpe United.Simpson will wear squad number 23. QPR


Ealing Gazette/Paul Warburton - QPR striker turns down loan move
- ROWAN Vine has turned down a loan move to another Championship club because his boss believes he can still score the goals sadly lacking for QPR at the moment.
- Jim Magilton was heartened by Vine’s performance on Tuesday night - a speck of light in the otherwise lacklustre 2-1 win over Accrington Stanley in the Carling Cup - and has pencilled in the £2.5million striker for a starting berth at Scunthorpe on Saturday.
- Magilton said: "Rowan hasn’t done himself any harm against Accrington. We’ve got a group of lads coming back from injury getting to grips with league football again.
- "There is an opportunity for others to get a regular place in the side - but at the moment no one’s jumping out to claim a place.
- "But I thought Viney did well against Accrington - he looked better, and I think it’s small building blocks for us all. We’re exploring the idea of getting someone new in, and if that happens" Ealing Gazette

Ealing Gazette/Jacob Murtagh - Ephraim eyes Carling Cup progress with QPR
-NOBODY better tell Hogan Ephraim the Carling Cup doesn’t matter.
- The QPR midfielder bagged his second goal in as many starts in the second round win over Accrington Stanley on Tuesday night - the other came in the previous round’s demolition of Exeter City.
Rangers boss Jim Magilton rang the changes with eight players rested from Saturday’s draw against Nottingham Forest.
And despite only 5,203 hardy souls turning out for the 2-1 triumph, Ephraim insists it’s high on his list of priorities.
He said: "It’s a massive opportunity to play against the big teams you don’t get a chance to play against week in, week out.
"It’s a good competition and we want to progress as far as we can.
"You never know, you’ve seen some Championship teams get to semi-finals in the past few years, so it’s something we aim to do."
Rangers reached the fourth round last time around before bowing out to Manchester United, following a memorable win at Aston Villa.
Former West Ham winger Ephraim missed the defeat at Old Trafford, but he’s got his fingers crossed he gets another shot at the team he supported as a boy in Saturday’s draw.
"A big team would be great," he said. "I missed the Man U game last year, so it would be good to get them."
Meanwhile, Ephraim hopes he’s done enough to be in contention for Saturday’s clash at Scunthorpe United as the Rs bid for their first three points of the season.
He added: "All I can do is try to do well and score goals.
"If you have a midfielder scoring goals it gives the manager something to think about. Hopefully it will put something in his mind, but I don’t pick the team." Ealing Gazette
