Jim Magilton knows that QPR must start winning games soon if he is to keep Flavio Briatore happy.

Queens Park Rangers’ chairman has been trigger happy since taking over at Loftus Road in search of Premier League football, and Magilton will feel the heat rising if they fail to record a win for the fifth successive league game this weekend.

They will be bolstered for the trip to Scunthorpe by the loan signing of Jay Simpson from Arsenal, which should lift the spirits of Magilton who has been less then impressed with the R’s last two home games.

A draw with Nottingham Forest was followed by a narrow Carling Cup victory over Accrington Stanley that left Magilton livid.

[QUESTIONS & ANSWERS]

Q: Are you pleased to add Jay Simpson to your squad?

A: Jay is a fine young player, who will prove to be a quality addition to the squad. He's already shown glimpses of his quality at Arsenal and during loan spells elsewhere, and we'll be looking for him to continue his progression under our guidance.

There's no doubt he's got all the attributes to be a top, top player, but he needs games, and we're delighted we've been given the opportunity by Arsenal to provide him with a platform to showcase his ability.

Q: What were your thoughts on the midweek victory over Accrington Stanley?

A: They out-played us totally in the first half, we picked up second half, we had to because we could not have been much worse.

I will stand and defend my players without a shadow of a doubt but that first half you just cannot defend, you simply cannot defend it. It was not good enough.

It was not good enough for us, the standards we set, and especially the standards the players set. I will defend them when it is right to defend them but you cannot defend that.

Q: What areas need to improve?

A: You must give every opponent their due respect because they certainly earned it, no matter what level they play at, and if you think you can go into a game half cocked thinking you can get time on the ball, thinking they are going to give you time on the ball you are kidding yourself and most certainly, most certainly, we have one or two who are kidding themselves.

We, unfortunately, have a certain few that can turn on and turn off a switch. You cannot in this game. They came out of the blocks quicker than we did; they showed an appetite for the game we have one or two maybe, big time Charlies who think they are in a comfort zone.

I am going to shake the living daylights out of them.

Q: Expectations are high at Loftus Road this season aren't they?

A: The expectations here have risen because of who has bought the club, but no-one is going to put me under more pressure to succeed than myself. Flavio has been very supportive. Give Me Football

Last time they met: In December 2007, QPR under De Canio, drew 2-2 at Scunthorpe (Buzsaky 2). QPR: Camp, Barker, Stewart, Bolder, Buzsaky (Ainsworth 92), Rowlands, Malcolm, Vine, Rehman (Timoska 74), Leigertwood, Sinclair (Nygaard 76). Subs: Cole, Balanta.
