Football League - CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM OF THE WEEK
- Each week the Official Football League website will bring you the Team of the Week. Produced by the Press Association, the Team's of the Week feature the eleven top performing players from each division from this weekend's matches.
- Queens Park Rangers produced a great performance at the weekend to win 2-0 away at Coca-Cola Championship rivals Cardiff City and Hoops' goalkeeper Radek Cerny grabbed a place in the Team of the Week after his clean sheet.
- Gianni Zuiverloon and Shelton Martis were picked for their involvement in inflicting Middlesbrough's first home defeat of the season at the Riverside Stadium which keeps the Baggies firmly at the top of the table. Chris Brunt was also selected after he bagged a double against his former club in the 5-0 away win.
- Peterborough United achieved their first win of the season thanks to an impressive goal from George Boyd, who is named in midfield. The 23-year-old midfielder scored the stunning winner in a 3-2 win at London Road against Reading.
- Making up the front two of this week's Team of the Week is Preston North End's Chris Brown and Leicester City's Matt Fryatt as both scored doubles in equally thrilling matches. Fryatt was on the score sheet twice as the Foxes' drew 3-3 with Watford at Vicarage Road whilst Brown helped his side beat Coventry City 3-2 at Deepdale to ensure all three points for the Lilywhites. Meanwhile Rowan Vine Speaking Out:
The Mirror/Ken Gorman - Rowan Vine pleads with QPR board to give Jim Magilton time to make his mark
- Striker Rowan Vine helped to lift Rangers in to the top half of the Championship - then fired his own plea to their directors.
- He urged their notoriously hard to please board to give new manager Jim Magilton the time to develop a team which the former Birmingham and Luton hit man believes is good enough for promotion.
- Vine has been at Loftus Road for just two years, but he has already played under FOUR different bosses and he believes that the revolving managerial door has left the players heads spinning as well.
- Vine said: “We have brought in players over the last 18 months who have strengthened the squad massively. But there has been instability at the club, with people coming and going. That never helps.
- “Jim Magilton has certainly been good for the players so far. We would like to see him given the time to continue the job.
- “We believe we are one of the top teams in the league. We are capable of beating anybody. What we need is for everyone to be pulling in the same direction.” ...Mirror
