Liverpool Daily Post/Neil Turner - Raheem Sterling is the star turn of England under-16s Victory Shield clash at Chester’s Deva Stadium
- A CLUTCH of Premier League, Serie A, and La Liga representatives will be present at the Deva Stadium tomorrow night, when England under-16s entertain Northern Ireland in a Victory Shield international.
- The main subject of the interest is 14-year-old Queens Park Rangers striker Raheem Sterling, who has been described by one pundit as the next Theo Walcott.
- The head of QPR youth development Steve Gallen enthused: “He is very popular with his team mates, and has bags of potential.”
- City secretary Tony Allan, who has been handling the inquiries for tickets from the multi millionaire clubs, said: “The interest in the game has been tremendous. A number of players who will more than likely progress to the top level will be on show, and it has all the makings of an extremely exciting evening.
- “To be invited to stage a prestigious international match like this is a tremendous honour for Chester City, everybody connected with the club is looking forward to it.”
- The Victory Shield, which has been contested since 1919, is a four-nation competition involving England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.
