- England’s U16 side will take on Belgium next month in preparation for the Montaigu Tournament which gets underway at the end of March.

This will be their first experience of playing overseas against a side from outside the British Isles.

In November, Kenny Swain’s side lifted the Victory Shield for the ninth consecutive season after registering victories over Wales (1-0), Northern Ireland (2-0) and Scotland (2-1) and they will look to bring that form into the Montaigus, a tournament in which their predecessors triumphed last year. Jordan Cousins was a member of that successful side and after captaining England to victory over Wales in October he has been included in the squad that will fly to Seraing.

In Everton’s Tyias Browning, Crewe’s Max Clayton and Bolton’s Lewis Fielding, Swain has given three players their maiden international call-up, while the other 15 players have already had some experience of international football via the Victory Shield.

The Montaigu Tournament, which is staged in France every year, comprises two groups of four with the top nation in each group contesting the Final. This year England have been placed in Group B alongside Ukraine, Japan and Gabon. Group A consists of Portugal, United Arab Emirates, Benin and the tournament hosts. The group stage will take place between 31 March and 5 April. FA

- QPR playmaker Adel Taarabt has vowed to make a fresh start under caretaker boss Mick Harford and help fire the club into the play-offs after admitting having a bust-up with axed manager Paul Hart.
- The outspoken Morrocan midfielder wants to make headlines for the right reasons during the rest of his loan stay at the club, and he rewarded Harford for restoring him to the starting line-up with a majestic performance at Bloomfield Road on Saturday to help clinch a morale-boosting point for Rangers.
- Taarabt, currently on loan from Spurs, admits his part in the turmoil at QPR last week after falling out with Hart, but he believes that new man at the helm Harford can get the best out of him in the coming weeks.
- He said: "I was having trouble with Hart, but I am very happy with the performance of the team for the new manager.
- "It was a big problem with Hart, we had a meeting and I did not like him. I did not enjoy the way that he had the team playing. I am the type of player who likes to get on the ball and play, but I could not play the way that I wanted with Hart.
- "It is a new chance for me, the fans know what I can do here. I am here for the rest of the season and I want to get to the play-offs with QPR.
- "Next year I want to go to Spain and play as my style of play is more Spanish than English I think."
- The 20-year-old forward aims to reproduce the dazzling football that lit up Loftus Road during early season and he feels that QPR can go in the right direction under Harford after an encouraging start to his second spell as caretaker manager.
- "It was a good performance from us," Taarabt added. "We changed manager during the week so it was difficult for us. We made some big changes but we worked very hard to play football and deserved the draw.
