Cousin takes £20k pay cut to join QPR
Jan 14 2010 By Paul Warburton/Ealing Gazette
- DANIEL Cousin will shoulder a £20,000-a-week wage cut to join QPR until the end of the season.
So desperate is the Hull City striker to get games for Rangers, the 32-year-old has agreed to pocket a mere £6k-a-week while at the club.
However, Rangers fans will have to wait at least two weeks to see him in a Hoops shirt.
The forward is in the Africa Cup of Nations playing for Gabon, who kicked off their bid on Wednesday night against Cameroon.
Gabon’s last group match is next Thursday - and two from a group of four go through to the quarter-finals, with the second place almost
certainly between Cousin’s country and Tunisia.
But temporary boss Paul Hart has decided to take immediate drastic action following Tuesday night’s disastrous 3-2 FA Cup elimination at the hands of Sheffield United.
Loan keeper Carl Ikeme, from Wolves, will be given a chance to show what he can do at Blackpool tomorrow - with Radek Cerny one of the fall guys for a night when just under 6,000 braved the freezing conditions.
Hoops were 3-0 down, before two late goals from Akos Buzsaky and Damion Stewart brought a rousing finish. But whether Nigel Quashie returns to the club where he started his career is undecided.

This is London/David Yuill - Quashie set for Park life
Queens Park Rangers expect to sign Nigel Quashie in time for him to play against Blackpool on Saturday.
West Ham have agreed to release the 31-year-old providing he can secure a PERMANENT move away from the Premier League club. He has been sent out on loan to Birmingham, Wolves and now with MK Dons.
Quashie made 58 appearances for Rangers before joining Nottingham Forest for £2.5million in 1998.
Paul Hart will welcome his experience and versatility in midfield as the former Portsmouth manager looks to save their promotion ambitions this season. Standard
Ealing Gazette - Video nasty for QPR players after defeat
Jan 14 2010 By Jacob Murtagh
RANGERS boss Paul Hart will force his players to relive their defensive horror show against Sheffield United this morning.
The Rs leaked three cheap goals as the Blades booked an FA Cup fourth round trip to Bolton Wanderers on Saturday week.
But the Loftus Road chief will make his defenders watch it again in a bid to ensure there's no repeat at Blackpool this weekend.
Kaspars Gorkss revealed: "We know it's not good enough. We conceded some really cheap goals. We're going to see them again on video today, but I think we conceded them too easily.
"I think we need to be better organised defensively if we're going to move up the league. If we keep conceding three goals we've got no chance of making the play-offs." Gazette
Teamtalk - Hart ready to hand German chance
- QPR boss Paul Hart could be ready to turn to rookie striker Antonio German in a bid to kick-start their play-off push.
Rangers tumbled out of the FA Cup with a 3-2 defeat by Sheffield United on Tuesday night and have now won just won of their last 10 outings.
But one bright spot was a 10-minute cameo from 18-year-old German, who came agonisingly close to forcing extra-time when his last-gasp effort was kept out by Blades keeper Mark Bunn.
"I was very pleased with him," said Hart.
"He is a lot closer to starting for the team than he was before kick-off."
