QPR Official Site - HARFORD: WE OWE IT TO YOU
- QPR boss Mick Harford has lauded praise on the Loftus Road faithful ahead of this weekend's clash with Doncaster Rovers.
The R's welcome Donny to W12 on Saturday in desperate need of three valuable points to haul them away from the lower reaches of the Coca Cola Championship, against a Rovers side who are currently in tenth position following their 2-0 midweek win at Sheffield Wednesday.
Harford admits that the clash with Sean O'Driscoll's men will certainly prove tough, but has thanked the QPR faithful for their continued support and says that their backing in the coming months could be pivotal as the league season draws to a close.
"We've got to hold our heads up high, roll our sleeves up, stick our chests out and turn our season around," Harford told www.qpr.co.uk.
"I hope we can achieve this against a Doncaster team who will be hard to beat.
"We all know we're in a results-based industry so we must get back to winning ways as soon as possible.
"We have fantastic supporters here at QPR.
"They haven't had a lot to cheer about over the last few months but the fact that they are right behind us is a testament to how loyal they are.
"We, as a group - staff and players - owe the supporters of this great Football Club, a welcome three points." QPR
Update: Assuring QPR Relegation?!
- Paul Warburton/London Informer Harford set to stay as QPR boss for the rest of the season
- QPR player-power has put paid to Neil Warnock becoming the Hoops fifth manager this season.
- However, a move for the Crystal Palace boss, who made it plain this week his tenure in south London is all but finished, could be on the cards in May – especially as Rangers are understood to have sounded out Warnock three times in the last two seasons.
- Although the former Sheffield United manager remains a firm favourite with the Hoops board, the Chronicle understands loud rumblings from senior players have successfully pleaded to keep Mick Harford for the rest of the season – regardless of where Rangers end up in the Championship table.
- Fans’ favourite Lee Cook broke ranks after the 1-0 defeat to Coventry on Saturday to publicly ask the same thing – and together with the near £1.5milllion compensation demanded by Palace, Harford looks set to keep his job.
- A senior source said: “What it might do for the players morale if there were yet another manager is debatable.
- “Money is also a factor, and not just the compensation, but a new manager’s wage demands as well.” London Informer

Sporting Life - WARNOCK SET FOR TALKS ON FUTURE
By Andy Sims, Press Association Sport
- Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock will meet with the club's administrator on Thursday morning to discuss his future.
- Warnock has this week admitted his position is uncertain after the Eagles went into administration and were deducted 10 points, plunging them into the relegation scrap.
- And with mega-rich west Londoners QPR apparently casting glances in his direction, the 61-year-old could be forgiven for deciding the grass is greener on the other side of the Thames.
- Reading's 3-1 win at Selhurst Park left the Eagles outside the bottom three on goal difference alone.
- Warnock once again refused to comment on speculation linking him with a move, but his position should become clearer after talks with administrator Brendan Guilfoyle, who has said he will resist any offer for the manager.
- "I'm not going to comment on what he's said. I'll be speaking to him tomorrow morning," said Warnock.
- "Until I speak to him then I haven't got a clue about that..." Sporting Life
Crystal Palace Official Site - Warnock: I Am Not Distracted
Wed 17 Feb 2010
- Neil Warnock says that recent speculation linking him to the QPR managerial role has not distracted him from the preparation for forthcoming games.
- What started out as a rumour swiftly evolved into media backed speculation and has refused to go away. But Neil is refusing to be swerved by the attention and is remaining focussed on Palace's busy league schedule:
- "It is not really a distraction. I think I have been linked around 15 times over the years with them [QPR] and every time they have changed managers.
- "It is one of things that happens. It [his position at Palace] is very insecure at the moment. It is not a very nice situaton that we find ourselves in and we will just have to do the best we can with what we have got at the minute.
- "I won't pay any attention until they actually speak to the club, that goes for anybody ...[until] then my job is solely here and looking at these games coming up; and you are not going to get tougher, more enjoyable games than the next three."
- Tonight Palace face a Reading side very much in peak form with three wins from their last three league games and a credible draw against West Brom in the FA Cup on Saturday.....
- ...Had Palace not have been placed into administration, tonight's game would have been a chance for the Eagles to establish themselves in the play off places. Instead three points will be a huge step further away from a closing relegation zone, which Neil admits has been the most difficult aspect to take of going into receivership.
- "We thought we were going to be getting into the play off places with this game and now we are now trying to get away from the other end.
- "That is one thing that has really hurt me. At my stage in my career I am not going to get too many more opportunitites to get promotion, and to have the carpet whipped from under me is devastating.
- "I still don't understand why we have been put into administration. The guy who has put us in who is owed money he has not been paid, or is anywhere near getting paid it. So I don't understand why we had to lose points. It just seems like such a needless exercise for everyone at the club and once again myself, the staff and the players have been punished for it." Three Year Flashback: Joe Kinnear for QPR?
A strange story appeared in a number of newsapers, three years ago (February 18, 2007) including The Mail, Mirror, Sun and Daily Star, that Joe Kinnear was set to replace John Gregory as manager.
The Mirror QPR SET TO GO FOR JOE By Aidan Magee 19/02/20
"JOE KINNEAR is favourite to take over at QPR this week if they decide to sack John Gregory.
The former Wimbledon boss has been out of the game since leaving Nottingham Forest at the foot of the Championship two years ago.
Rangers chairman Gianni Paladini will decide at a board meeting on Wednesday whether to stick with Gregory.
The talks take place the day after Rangers' crucial clash at Leeds - where defeat would almost certainly spell the end for the former Aston Villa boss.
Paladini tried to tempt Iain Dowie into a return to Loftus Road but was given short shrift by the ex-Charlton and Crystal Palace manager.
Kinnear, 60, suffered a heart attack while managing Wimbledon in March 1999 but has since managed Luton and Forest."
- The Sun - JOE KINNEAR is poised to take over as manager of struggling Queens Park Rangers tomorrow.
- The STAR (From BBC Gossip) "QPR are on the verge of sacking John Gregory and could replace him with Joe Kinnear. (Daily Star)" - BBC

Wanted: Joe Kinnear QPR line up Kinnear as Gregory faces axe
- As a result of these stories, QPR issued a statement. "QPR Deny Managerial Change Reports: "[A]bsolutely no intention of replacing John Gregory"
QPR OFFICIAL SITE DENIAL
- In light of recent speculation in the national Press, Chairman Gianni Paladini has issued the following statement regarding the managerial position at QPR:
- "We have absolutely no intention of replacing John Gregory as manager of this football club. He and the players have our 100% backing as we head into a crucial period of fixtures between now and the end of the season.
- "I know this will be looked upon as the dreaded vote of confidence from a Chairman to his Manager, but I feel it is necessary to inform the fans who will have been reading inaccurate reports suggesting I am looking to replace John.
- "We haven't spoken to anyone about the managerial position at QPR, contrary to Press speculation. Stories such as these are not helpful for the Club but I know the fans will continue to give great support to the team, as they have done all season.
Our focus is fully on the job in hand, which is to stay in The Championship and then build for what we hope will be a more successful campaign next season, with John Gregory at the helm."
