Mirror/Alan Nixon - QPR swoop for Algerian World Cup star
- QPR boss Neil Warnock is ready to swoop for Algeria’s World Cup skipper Yazid Mansouri after flying him in to London for talks.
- The 32-year-old midfield general is joining Rangers this week to see if he likes the set-up at Loftus Road – and to let Warnock decide whether he can play in the Championship next season.
- Mansouri is leaving French side Lorient at the end of his contract and is keen to try his luck in England.
- He wants a move tied up before he heads out to the World Cup finals. The veteran is set to face England in the qualifying group and hopes to go to South Africa with his future at Rangers tied up. Mirror
QPR OFFICIAL SITE - WARNOCK: 'I WON'T ENJOY THIS'
- Neil Warnock says he is not looking forward to this weekend's crunch match against his former Club, Crystal Palace.
- The R's head to Selhurst Park three points clear of relegation, and just two points above the Eagles for what is a massive relegation battle.
- "I don't think I'm going to enjoy it, I've got too many good memories there," Warnock told www.qpr.co.uk with the fixture just 24 hours away.
- "The players there are fantastic and the fans gave me my enthusiasm back for the game. I owe that to Palace, so it will be difficult."
- Warnock spent two-and-a-half years in SE25, guiding the Club to a Play-Off place in his first season. Despite the success he enjoyed, he isn't expecting a warm welcome from the Eagles supporters tomorrow.
- "What sort of reaction am I expecting from their fans? Normal!" he said.
- "Wherever I go, I get stick. But even the Palace fans who give me stick will know, deep down, what a good job I did for them. If I hadn't have been there, they would have been in trouble.
- "I think the majority of their fans understand why I moved on, and know how well I did to keep the Club going for the last 18 months.
- "But that won't stop them. To be honest, if I was a Palace fan I would still have a go at me!
- "Because of the way I am, I will get stick whatever ground in the country I go to. I just hope my team does the talking for me."
- The Eagles find themselves embroiled in a relegation battle after having ten points deducted for going into administration.
- Had that not been the case, they would currently occupy ninth spot. With that in mind, Warnock expects a very tough test against his ex-employers.
- "Palace are one of the best teams in the division and if the points deduction hadn't have happened, I believe they'd be pushing for a play-off place," he added.
- "Looking to the future, I've got my enthusiasm back and I'm looking forward to it.
- "It's going to be hard work but we have just got to make sure we get the points on board between now and the end of the season.
- "We'll never be in this situation again, it's just a matter of getting through these next few games." QPR

Saturday sees the return of Neil Warnock five weeks after he departed to manage our west London rivals Queens Park Rangers.
The former Palace manager inherited a squad that had picked up just one league home win since the turn of the year and had not won on their travels since November.
Two wins in his first wins in charge appeared to suggest a change in their season, but from the subsequent seven games Rangers have not picked up another three points; instead falling to two defeats and five draws.
The R's now linger dangerously close to the possibility of being dragged into an unwanted relegation scrap and sit in 18th place in the table.
They are now three points above Palace with a game in hand - versus Watford in 11 days time - but will be buoyed by the fact they have just one away game remaining because it is there home form that their success seems to hinge.
At Loftus Road this year they have lost on only four occasions and picked up points in the further 16 games with seven wins and nine draws.
Whereas on the road they have managed just four wins and six draws and have lost a total of eleven times.
They also find it much harder to score away from west London and have converted 19 times, which pales in comparison to the 35 goals they have netted at home.

Previous Home Encounters with QPR by Ian King
Rivalry with the West London club stretches back over a hundred years to our days in the Southern League Division One. The first encounter at our inaugural home of The Crystal Palace on 5th January 1907 saw Palace stroll to a 5-1 victory with Horace Astley netting four of them, still the only occasion that we have hit five goals or more against Rangers.
The clubs faced each other for ten seasons in that League and then we both became founder members of the Football League's Third Division in the 1920-21 season.
Our first home encounter in the Football League took place at The Nest, opposite Selhurst Station, on New Years Day 1921 and ended in a goalless draw, while until 1964 all our clashes were at this level with the first game at Selhurst Park on 7th November 1925 ending in a narrow 1-0 victory for Palace.
During that time Palace were able to record two 4-0 beatings of Rangers, both in the Thirties while the Hoops exacted revenge by twice dishing out defeats by three clear goals.
Between 1967 and 1991 Rangers had the voodoo sign over Palace, our only victory in six attempts came on the memorable afternoon of 30th September 1967 when a Terry Long goal, in front of our then biggest League crowd of 38,006, was sufficient for us to leapfrog Rangers to the top of Division Two, then our highest ever position in the League.
Since then the Eagles have held the upper hand over Rangers as they have failed to take maximum points from Selhurst Park since December 1989, although a sizeable number of games have ended as a draw - local 'derbies' tend to end this way no matter what the form book may say - but on the plus side Palace have three times sent the Loftus Road outfit away with 3-0 defeats.
We have been drawn twice together at Selhurst Park in the F. A. Cup and no guesses that they both ended in draws, a First Round tie in November 1938 finished all square at 1-1.
The other occasion was a Third Round tie in January 1946 when for the only season F.A. Cup ties were played over two legs and, following a goalless draw at Loftus Road the teams turned out on the afternoon of Wednesday 9th January for the second leg. This also failed to produce a goal after 117 minutes and then the referee called the game to a halt due to bad light. The tie was played to a conclusion at Fulham five days later.
The last time Rangers made the short trip across London was on 29th November 2008 and a somewhat uninspiring goalless draw was played out in front of a 16,000 crowd on a cold afternoon.
In the second half Heidar Helguson shot wide from 25 yards with Julian Speroni stranded, and in the final minutes Cerny failed to hold a Craig Beattie drive but their defenders managed to scramble the ball away and these seem to be the only highlights.

QPR OFFICIAL SITE - TIGER FEET WALK
- This Saturday a group of QPR fans are walking from Loftus Road to Selhurst Park - the home of local rivals Crystal Palace - to raise money for the Tiger Cubs.
- The Tiger Feet Walk idea came about after BBC Sport's Chris Charles wrote a blog and created a film highlighting the positive impact our very ownTiger Cubs have had in the local community.
- Following on from this, Chris and his friend James Doe, also from the BBC, approached QPR in the Community Trust to do a sponsored event to raise money for the Tiger Cubs.
- It was decided that a sponsored walk from QPR to Crystal Palace would be a great way of raising funds, as well as an extremely healthy way of getting to the game!
- To view Chris's blog, click here- There will be around 20 walkers including Chris and James, Adam Finch (Tiger Cubs Coach), Andy Evans (Trust CEO) and Ian Stenning from the Official Supporters Club.
