Damion Stwart Injury Update: STABLE NIGHT FOR STEWART

- Damion Stewart has had a "stable night" in hospital following yesterday afternoon's sickening head collision with Crystal Palace's Calvin Andrew at Selhurst Park.
- The R's defender was stretchered off after the accidental clash in the opening minute with what turned out to be a fractured skull and bleeding into the brain.
- QPR Head Physio Paul Hunter has been with Stewart since the end of the game - the Jamaican was accompanied to Croydon's Mayday Hospital during the match by Assistant Physio Shane Annun - and Hunter has reported good news regarding the centre-back's recovery.
- "Damion had a stable night in a private London hospital," Hunter told http://www.qpr.co.uk/
- "He has seen the neurosurgeon again this morning, and will undergo further tests tomorrow.
- "I am pleased to report the bleeding into the brain has stopped but we will continue to monitor his status on an hourly basis.

Warnock's Queens Park Rangers side are now all but safe from relegation
Neil Warnock had insisted beforehand that he would not enjoy his return to Selhurst Park whatever the outcome and a fractured skull suffered by defender Damion Stewart took the gloss off a deserved victory for his Queens Park Rangers side. A 2-0 win with goals from Akos Buzsaky and Kaspars Gorkss means Warnock's men are all but safe and Palace, the club he left five weeks ago, must continue to fight for survival.
Warnock was barracked by a section of the home support for his defection but applauded for his two-and-a-half years at the helm by a far larger segment.
But, apart from a brief broadside at those responsible for putting Palace into administration earlier in the season, the Yorkshireman's thoughts were with the hospitalised Stewart, who was hurt in a clash of heads with the Palace forward Calvin Andrew when the game was but a few seconds old.
"I'm told the neurosurgeon is on his way," Warnock said. "A scan has shown a slight crack in his skull and there is some bleeding around it. It was a savage collision and you could see it coming. I don't blame Calvin, he is such a genuine lad."
Rangers had their noses in front in the 11th minute when Buzsaky, the Hungarian midfield player, lashed a layback from fellow countryman Tamas Priskin past Julian Speroni in the Palace goal. The home side took an age to recover and the fact that the left-back, Clint Hill, came closest to scoring, says a lot about a flat performance from Paul Hart's side.
Hart, who had a brief stint in charge of Rangers earlier in the season, saw Gorkss head home an Adel Taarabt corner on the hour to wrap up the points.
Hart conceded that Palace's fate is unlikely to be decided before the last day of the season when they travel to Sheffield Wednesday, who lost at Middlesbrough to remain third from bottom, one point and one place below Palace.
"That was the poorest we've been since I got here," he said. "It was doubly disappointing because we had a full house almost and we didn't deliver. We had a bad day and goals change games. I could see early on we were not quite right." Independent

After the home defeat against Queens Park Rangers Paul Hart was left disappointed that his side couldn't follow up their home victory against Preston earlier in the week.
"It was very disappointing, it is the poorest we have played since I have been here and it is even more disappointing as we had nearly a full house here today and we didn't deliver.
"Things did not start well when Calvin (Andrew) was involved in that horrible clash of heads and I personally felt the change did us more harm than it did to them. Calvin has been on fire for us in recent weeks and we lost that threat going in behind straight away."
Andrew was eventually replaced mid-way through the half by full back Nathaniel Clyne, a substitution that was made for tactical reasons, after it appeared Alan Lee was ready to come on, following the clash of heads.
"The substitution was made in order to keep a bit of pace upfront and that is why we put Sean Scannell up there to try and maintain that threat."
With regards to Calvin, Hart admitted that despite being convinced by his medical team that Andrew had not sustained concussion, the player was not his self following the coming together.
"He stayed on but was all over the shop, the medical team assured me it was not concussion but he has got an horrendous lump on the back of his head and we felt it was best to take him off as he was himself at all."
With all the attention surrounding the game due to Neil Warnock managing a side in SE25 again, Hart was adament that the occasion had not got to his players and the early goal obviously changed the game.
"Goals change games. I could see from early on that we were not ourselves and not every week is perfect, we can do a lot better and we will have to from now until the end of the season." Crystal Palace

Neil Warnock returned to Selhurst Park to add to Crystal Palace's relegation worries as Queens Park Rangers ran out easy winners against his former team.
Warnock was given a mixed reception by Palace fans but left celebrating Rangers' first win in eight matches.
He left the south Londoners last month amid claims by Palace administrator Brendan Guilfoyle that he "didn't have the stomach for a fight". Warnock said: "We got the points but I haven't really enjoyed anything about today.
"I was amazed with the reception I got - I expected a lot more boos so I was quite emotional. I worked my socks off while I was here so that meant a lot.
"I still feel disgusted, and don't understand why a hedge fund put us into administration. And looking at the teams in the playoffs now, I think we were a better side than any of them except Nottingham Forest."
Rangers had to make an early substitution after Damion Stewart was concussed in a clash of heads with Calvin Andrew seconds after the kick-off.
Mikele Leigertwood dropped back into defence but in the 11th minute Palace were the ones left with a headache when Akos Buzsaky gave the visitors the lead.
Dusko Tosic's left-wing centre was touched back to Buzsaky by Tamas Priskin and the Hungarian scored with a low 25-yard shot.
Palace were abysmal in a lowkey first half, but Neill Danns wasted a glorious opportunity to level in the 57th minute when, with only Radek Cerny to beat, he missed the target completely.
Three minutes later Rangers got the decisive second goal when Kaspars Gorkss beat Paddy McCarthy to head home Adel Taarabt's corner and leave Palace fearing for their future.

Horror injury a choker for Neil

But Warnock was in no mood to glory in the slaughter - not least because of a horror injury to Damion Stewart.
Rangers had to make an early substitution after the defender was concussed in an accidental clash of heads with Calvin Andrew seconds after the kick-off.
Stewart was being examined by a specialist last night. Warnock said: "The X-ray showed a slight crack in his skull with some bleeding around it.
"The neurosurgeon is very concerned and was on his way to see him as quickly as possible. It was a savage collision, a horrific challenge, but a complete accident."
Andrew struggled on for a while and Palace gaffer Paul Hart said: "Losing Calvin, who has a massive lump on his head, didn't help because he's been on fire lately. It affected us more than Rangers losing Stewart." Warnock was given a generally good reception by Palace fans, but left celebrating Rangers' first win in eight matches.
The victory gives the men from Loftus Road a six-point safety cushion with Palace one point and one place above the relegation zone.
Warnock left the Eagles last month with claims by Palace administrator Brendan Guilfoyle that he "didn't have the stomach for a fight".
But pathetic Palace were left belly-up by Rangers, who showed the passion, commitment and organisation associated with Warnock sides.
It is difficult to remember Palace playing as badly as this in the Warnock era, and unless they improve significantly in their remaining three matches, the Eagles will be flying to League One.
Warnock said: "I haven't enjoyed anything about today. I expected a lot more boos. I was quite emotional with the applause. It was nice of the genuine fans to support me and I would like to thank them.
"I hope Palace regroup and get enough points to stay up, so I can come back next season and have another go at them. They have enough quality to get out of trouble - and winnable games. I asked the players to be brave and they were.
"The early goal gave us a lift confidence-wise and the second goal finished it off. To criticise Palace is taking something from us. We can do a lot better if I'm honest. I'd like to think we can be undefeated for the rest of the season."
Hart, who was in charge at Rangers for five games earlier this season, said: "It was very disappointing, the poorest we've been since I came here.
"We never got started, we weren't at our best and we can do much better. I could see early on we were not quite right, in football it sometimes happens. We couldn't take the initiative, but QPR played well. We had a bad day."
