Goalkeeper Tom Heaton has joined Cardiff City from Manchester United after a previous loan stint with the Championship club.
- Heaton, 24, was a 2008-09 Bluebirds regular and spent loan periods at Wycombe, Rochdale and QPR last season.
- Boss Dave Jones told Cardiff's website: "United had offered him a new contract, but Tom's attitude was that he wanted to play, which says a lot about him."
- Heaton's return came in the wake of Peter Enckelman being released.
- Jones says ex-England Under-21 international Heaton can give David Marshall strong competition, adding: "He will certainly be a welcome addition to our ranks.
- We all know about the lad from his time on loan here and know that we have signed a very talented young player

- "We look forward to seeing him for pre-season training and know that we have a real prospect for years to come."

- Tom Heaton has on Tuesday agreed to join Cardiff City on July 1st following the expiration of his Manchester United contract, seeing the 24 year old reuniting with the Bluebirds on a permanent basis.
- Tom will link up with the squad for pre-season training in July and will work alongside David Marshall following the release of Peter Enckelman at the end of the season.
Of the acquisition Dave Jones said: "I'm pleased that we have secured Tom's services from Manchester United. We all know about the lad from his time on loan here and know that we have signed a very talented young player who can offer plenty of competition for Marshall in goal.
- "United had offered him a new contract, but Tom's attitude was that he wanted to play, which says a lot about him as a player and a professional. He will certainly be a welcome addition to our ranks.
- "It's now a case of Tom and Dave working hard with our goalkeeping coach Martyn Margetson, battling to claim a starting place in the squad. We look forward to seeing him for pre-season training and know that we have a real prospect for years to come."
- A regular in our 2008/09 starting eleven during his loan spell, Tom played twenty one games including our final match of the season at Sheffield Wednesday. Check back soon for Tom's views on his Cardiff City return." Cardiff
Fulham Chronicle/Paul Warburton - QPR head fight to sign Tamika Mkandawire
- QPR head a four-way fight for Leyton Orient centre-half Tamika Mkandawire.
The Malawi-born defender was the subject of a £200,000 bid by Millwall and former Rs assistant manager Kenny Jackett back in January but O’s chairman Barry Hearn rejected the bid, deeming the defender too important to his side’s relegation battle, and slapped a £500,000 price tag on him.
However, the towering defender is now out of contract, and waiting in the wings are Rangers, newly promoted Millwall, Preston and Paulo Sousa’s Swansea, although the Hoops’ financial muscle means they can offer a larger signing-on-fee, and a better wage package than Jackett and the others.
Mkandawire, 27, could be a long-term replacement for Damion Stewart, three years older that the former West Brom trainee, who got his league career into gear with Hereford.
The transfer target represented the England semi-professional team twice during his three years with the Bulls before his move to East London in 2007.
Martin Ling, then Orient manager, had pursued his man for a year and had a £60,000 bid rejected before Mkandawire made the move for free having seen his contract expire.
Should manager Neil Warnock secure Mkandawire’s services it will be seen as another understated and hopefully astute signing as Rs hope to mount a series promotion challenge come August" Fulham Chronicle
