Update: Lee Cook's Absence Explained by Ben Kosky/Kilburn Times: Injured
New setback for QPR winger Cook
-QPR assistant boss Mick Jones is confident Lee Cook will bounce back after a fresh injury blow ruled the winger out until late September.
-Cook is facing at least two months on the sidelines following a recurrence of the knee problem that forced him to miss more than half of last season.
-Injuries have hampered the 27-year-old's progress ever since he returned to Loftus Road for a third spell in 2008, but Jones insisted: "He's got the character to come through it again and I'm certain he will.
-"Lee's already in the throes of rehab. It's unfortunate because he's had serious injuries before and this is the last thing he needs now - it's a bad time for him.
-"It's difficult to say exactly how long he'll be out. We all like Lee and we're disappointed for him - he's a very dedicated boy and he's very popular in the dressing-room.
-"He's shown tremendous character over his career. He's one of those players that everyone in the game respects because they know what he's been through and, as I said, I'm sure he will come through it again."
-Meanwhile, goalkeeper Paddy Kenny was expected to feature in Rangers' tour of Italy this week, despite missing last Friday's 3-1 win at Torquay with a thigh strain.
-The summer signing from Sheffield United had been listed to play at Plainmoor, despite undergoing surgery on a mouth abscess earlier in the day, but pulled a muscle during the warm-up.
"It's not a major concern, but losing two or three key players at this stage isn't healthy," added Jones. "We want to make sure we get through the rest of pre-season unscathed.
"The one thing you don't want is having players who you think will be in your team unavailable for that first game of the season. Fitness levels are the most important aspect you look for.
"It's important that fringe players get their fitness levels high so that, if they're needed, they'll be ready. The games have been competitive and we were expected to win them, which we have, so things are going quite well."
Striker Leon Clarke also picked up a thigh strain at Torquay, but has been included in the squad that travelled to Italy for friendlies against Equipe Romagna on Wednesday and Ravenna later this week..." Kilburn Times

Interestingly the club explains the absence of a couple of players but not for Lee Cook's non inclusion (nor for non-playing pre-season)

QPR Official Site - ITALY BECKONS FOR R'S
Posted on: Mon 19 Jul 2010
- Neil Warnock has named an 18 man squad for the R's pre-season tour of Italy, which departs from London on Tuesday lunchtime.
- The R's gaffer has named a strong squad for the trip to Milano Marittima, as the Hoops prepare for two friendly matches during their seven day stay in the province of Ravenna.
- On Wednesday, Rangers will play Equipe Romagna at lo Stadio dei Pini (9.00pm kick off), before locking horns with local Lega Pro Prima Divisione side Ravenna Calcio on Sunday (9.00pm kick off) at Stadio Bruno Benelli.
- The squad has a couple of notable absentees - including Martin Rowlands and Damion Stewart - and Warnock explained their absence.
- "Martin will continue his rehabilitation in England over the next week or so before he is penciled in to see his surgeon the following week," he told www.qpr.co.uk.
- "He can't take part in any of the contact sessions at the moment, so it's pointless him travelling when he can do what we need him to do here.
- "He's trained really well though and he's looking good, but we'll be upping the intensity in Italy and working on other things, so it's best he stays back and gets working hard ahead of his next check up."
- Warnock added: "We're struggling to get a visa for Damion, which is a shame.
- "We're still trying, but it looks like he'll have to stay back and probably play at Taunton with the Reserves on Wednesday and maybe again on Saturday."
- QPR squad: Kenny, Cerny, Connolly, Ramage, Gorkss, Hall, Leigertwood, Buzsaky, Faurlin, Derry, Hill, Mackie, Clarke, Helguson, Ephraim, Parker, Borrowdale, German

- Pellicori Still With QPR
Although there have been suggestions on messageboards that Pellicori is no longer at QPR, this does not seem to be the case. Pellicori is again listed on the Official Site as being in the Reserve Squad.
QPR Official Site - STRIKE DUO IN RESSIES SQUAD
- Rowan Vine and Alessandro Pellicori are part of the QPR Reserve squad that will travel to Cornwall today for a short pre-season tour.
Following hot on the heels of Saturday's 1-1 draw against Borehamwood, Ronnie Jepson's men will play two matches in three days.
The R's will lock horns with Saltash United tonight (Monday), before travelling to play Taunton Town on Wednesday evening.
Both matches kick off at 7.30pm.
QPR Reserves (squad): Rose, Putnins, Fitzsimmons, Brown, Waters, Oastler, Hibbert, Ehmer, Vine, Johnson, Bulmer, Harriman, Bewick, Doughty, Andrade, Pellicori. QPR

- QPR X1 drew 1-1 with Boreham Woods. Pellicori and Alberti were named on the Official site - but supposedly (no official match reports yet), didn't play. Match Report
