QPR Official Site - GREAT SCOT!
Jamie Mackie scored his second brace in a week at Leicester on Saturday to bring his goal tally to eight in seven league games, and now he is dreaming of a Scotland call-up.
Mackie, who turns 25 on Wednesday, qualifies for Scotland through his granddad on his father's side and he told www.qpr.co.uk this afternoon: "I haven't had any contact from the national side but I would be delighted if that did happen.
"My granddad was a very proud Scotsman and it would be a great moment for me if I was lucky enough to be called up.
Hopefully that will happen but all I can do is concentrate on playing well for QPR, and seeing what develops."
Mackie has stormed to the top of the Championship scoring charts with his sensational start to the campaign, and he admitted: "I couldn't have dreamed of a better start to my QPR career.
"It has been perfect really, and long may that continue.
"I don't know what to put my goalscoring down to. I am working extremely hard in matches as well as on the training ground, but I have been like that throughout my career. I always give 100 per-cent, and that will never change."
Mackie is being touted as the signing of the summer following his arrival from Plymouth Argyle, and the hard-working forward is quick to praise Neil Warnock for the impact he has had on his career.
"The gaffer here is quality," he added. "He lets you express yourself in the attacking third of the pitch, and that has really helped me.
"With the quality we've got here at QPR, we all know that if you regularly make mistakes or the wrong decisions you'll find yourself out of the team.
"I love playing football and if I wasn't playing on a Saturday I wouldn't be happy, so I know I have to work hard in every match to keep hold of my place."
After scoring both goals in our 2-0 win at the Walkers on Saturday, coming on the back of his double in our 3-0 triumph at Ipswich, Mackie appeared to be withdrawn with an injury late on.
Incredibly, the R's No.12 has revealed he has been suffering with a problem ALL SEASON.
"I have had a bit of a problem with my right hamstring since the start of the campaign," he said.
"I haven't been 100 per cent.
"We have had to monitor it, and there are times when I have to take it easy in training.
"The physio team at the Club are quality and they are looking after me, and making sure I do the right things."
QPR supporters will be hoping magic-man Mackie will be fit to face Doncaster at Loftus Road this weekend. QPR
