The Sun/Paul Jiggins - He’s still Flavour of the month
- FLAVIO BRIATORE is still ploughing around £500,000 a month into QPR - eight months after quitting as chairman.
- The Italian stood down from the west Londoners' boardroom in February.
- Many fans hoped they had seen the back of the disgraced former F1 boss.
- But SunSport has been told he and Hoops' joint-owner Bernie Ecclestone are still pumping £1million a month into the Championship leaders while they try to sell their stake.
- And that Briatore is in regular contact with QPR manager Neil Warnock - although there is no suggestion he has a say in team selection.
- A Loftus Road insider said: "Many people may think Briatore has had nothing to do with the club since resigning but they would be wrong.
- "He is still helping to financially support the club with Ecclestone and his commitment and passion seem to be as strong as ever.
- "He remains an important figure - he even phones the gaffer regularly to tell him what a good job he is doing."
- Briatore bought the west London club with his old F1 pal Ecclestone in November 2007.
- A month later they persuaded Indian steel billionaire Lakshmi Mittal to buy a 20 per cent, making them potentially the world's richest club.
- But things did not go smoothly and Briatore was slammed for axing NINE managers during his two years as chairman.
- And he was also accused of dictating team selection.
- But having been forced to resign as boss of Renault's F1 team in September 2009 over his involvement in race fixing, he quit as Rangers chairman five months later.
- New chairman Ishan Saksena then appointed Warnock as boss. The Sun
