ADVICE FOR TAARABT

EXPRESS - ROUND UP: ADEL TAARABT MUST TEAM UP SAYS TOMMY SMITH
- QPR striker Tommy Smith believes Adel Taarabt has all the ingredients to be a Premier League star
- QPR striker Tommy Smith believes Adel Taarabt has all the ingredients to be a star in the Premier League – except a team ethic.
- Taarabt scored one and set up another in yet another one-man show in a 3-1 win against hapless Reading.
- Smith believes if Moroccan Taarabt gets his head right, he can shine in the top flight, either with Rangers or someone else.
- He said: “With Adel it is all in his head. If he can play like that as much as he can then absolutely he will be one of the better players in the Premier League.
- “It is about the other side and him working hard and being a team player. That’s something he has had instilled into his game since he signed under Neil Warnock. Once he gets that into his game – and as we saw against Reading he is starting to do that – then he will be worth a lot of money.” - Express

MIRROR/Neil McLeman
- Tommy Smith has told Adel Taraabt he can be a star in the Premier League next season if he continues to learn under Neil Warnock.
- The former Spurs playmaker scored one and set up the other two as 10-man QPR ended a run of four straight draws to go top in style.
- The magical Moroccan midfielder can still infuriate his own team-mates and opponents in equal measure. Reading’s Jem Karacan accused him of trying to get Matthew Mills sent off and then going down too easily for the opening penalty.
- But Smith, who scored his first goal on his first start for Rangers, reckons the £1million 21-year-old is now coming of age. “With Adel it is all in his head,” he said. “If he can play like that, then absolutely he will be one of the better players in the Premier League.
- “It is about him working hard and being a team player. That is something that he has had instilled into his game since he signed under Neil Warnock.
- “Once he gets that into his game then he will be worth a lot of money.”
- Warnock had thought “likeable rogue” Taraabt was not a “Neil Warnock player”. But after his team extended their unbeaten run to 15 matches, he insisted QPR is a better home for his skills than White Hart Lane.
- “He couldn’t play with Modric,” he said. “But at QPR we’ll build around him. He’s lovely to watch and I’ve been really pleased with his attitude.
“His free-kicks have been a disgrace. I thought he was trying to kill pigeons on top of the stand.”
- But Taraabt’s antics did not impress the Reading players. After being booked for fouling him, Karacan said: “I didn’t really touch him really. If I had known I was going to get a booking, I would have done something more serious.”
- Taraabt won and converted a first-half penalty before referee Steve Tanner showed Bradley Orr a straight red for a tackle on Hal Robson-Kanu.
- It was Taraabt’s cute through ball to Smith which led to Alejandro Faurlin’s goal after 61 minutes.
- Shane Long cracked home a belter from 25 yards to give Reading hope before Smith scored after Adam Federici saved a Taraabt free-kick.
- After scoring eight in their previous two games, Reading were out-fought by QPR. Karacan thought unfairly.
- “What was going on on the pitch today was shocking,” said the Turkey Under 21 midfielder.
- “There were elbows flying about and the referee has got to get a firm grip on it. We were too nice and maybe need to put our feet in a bit more.” Mirror

WARNOCK ON REFS! - TALKSPORT/Anton Stanley - Warnock: 'Referees don't understand football'
- Neil Warnock has attacked the state of refereeing in English football after a weekend of poor decisions around the leagues.
- The Queens Park Rangers manager, who is a qualified referee, was speaking to Alan Brazil on Sunday Exclusive and believes a lack of common sense and the current way referees are assessed isn’t helping the under-fire officials.
- The outspoken boss pointed the finger directly at those in charge of referees and claims performances have been in decline since the appointment of Mike Riley as the general manager of the Professional Game Match Officials.
- Warnock said: “I feel there has been a difference since Keith Hackett jacked it in. We’ve got Mike Riley, I’ve never been a big fan of his refereeing abilities. I’ve always thought Mike’s done well on limited ability to get where he’s got. He’s what I call a robot referee and now he’s in charge of our referees!”
- Asked about who he would like to see as general manager, Warnock said: “When you look at the Alan Wileys of this world, Dermot Gallagher and people in that mould, the people who understand and taught the players I’m surprised that we’ve got someone who was a big stickler for the rules.”
- “You look at how Mike Riley refereed and I see a lot of these referees refereeing like him. Clive Thomas was on the other day with me and we were talking about the decisions, 17 rules, they want to apply them all but the 18th rule they never apply it, and that’s common sense. They’ve got to start using common sense."
- After a discussion with Stan Collymore about former referees, Warnock launched an attack on the way officials are now examined, the QPR boss said: “In those days you didn’t have assessors, you didn’t have everyone telling them how to referee and so consequently people like Howard Webb, they’re not bothered about the marks now because they’re top refs but these people try and impress assessors.
- “Some of the assessors weren’t as good as the refs themselves that they’re teaching or talking about. I think outsiders, people that have played the game should actually go into and help them because it’s the footballing side of things they don’t understand it’s not the rules.”- Talksport/Warnock Audio

Ex-QPR Beats Out-on-Loan QPR! (Gareth Ainsworth vs Niki-Lee Bulmer)
Uxbridge Gazette/Matt Lewis- Hayes & Yeading's FA Cup dreams ended by Wycombe Wanderers' ex-QPR star Hayes & Yeading 1-2 Wycombe Wanderers
- BRAVE Hayes & Yeading were dumped out of the FA Cup by a stoppage time Gareth Ainsworth strike.
- The former QPR man scrambled home a scrappy winner in the 94th minute to break United hearts and secure Wanderers a place in the second round.
- United enjoyed the better chances in the first half with Bradley Pritchard and Andy Yiadom both going close early on.
- The teams went in goalless at the break with United keeper Lee Harrison not returning to the field for the second half due to injury.
- His replacement Niki-Lee Bulmer made a shaky start to his Church Road career and was beaten after 61 minutes by Stuart Beavon who poked home from close range.
- Wanderers’ lead lasted less than ten minutes when Pritchard (pictured) knocked in a Peter Holmes cross to level the score.
- The home side had the momentum behind them and pushed for a winner, wasting a glorious chance six minutes from time when Lee Brown chose to cross with the goal gaping.
- But there was late fireworks from Wycombe on bonfire weekend as Ainsworth forced the ball through a crowd of players in injury time to end United’s cup dream. Uxbridge Gazette
