Christmas Greetings 2006 - QPR Official Site - December 25, 2006 - QPR RESPONSE TO DAILY EXPRESS
- QPR Official Site: Official Club statement by Antonio Caliendo and Gianni Paladini.
- We owe it to QPR fans to respond to the allegations made in the Daily Express on Saturday in an article entitled "Are Rangers Going bust?"
- The article was misleading in many respects and we can assure our many supporters that there is no possibility of QPR going bust whilst we remain on board.
- We have seen too many attacks on QPR in the press that simply don't reflect the reality of today's situation. It seems there is always someone who wants to discredit our club.
- Our goal remains the same as always: to take QPR to the highest position in English football. Despite injuries and recent results, we believe John Gregory will be able to take QPR back to the position it was in when he played for the Club.
We accept that talk is cheap. Actions speak louder than words. We will only ever prove our critics wrong by taking the Club forward, and we are 100 per-cent committed to continuing with that.
- Finally, we would also like to take this opportunity to wish all of the staff and fans of QPR a very happy Christmas and a successful New Year.

Christmas 1999 - GERRY MERRY CHRISTMAS
WITH the Rangers team training over the Christmas period, Gerry Francis has a special seasonal greeting for all our supporters.
- Gerry says:" The team have worked very, very hard this year. There's been a great improvement and we are in a reasonable position in the league.
"I hope the fans have a tremendous Christmas because they deserve it for the support they've given me. Also I hope we get a bit of luck in there with all these injury problems that we're having. It's been a bit frustrating, having started the season so well and now knowing that I've got some very good players that are not available for selection.
- "So well done the supporters, well done the players. Hopefully we can have a good Christmas and a Happy New Year."
- Team news for Sunday - Steiner(groin) and Baraclough(virus) will hope to shake off the problems that kept them out of the win at Torquay. Loan signing Darran Ward comes back into contention after being ineligible for the FA Cup. Rangers still have nine first team players out injured.
Christmas 1998 QPR Official Site - CHRIS' CHRISTMAS CHEER
RANGERS chairman Chris Wright has a special seasonal message to the supporters.
He says: "I would like to wish all of our wonderful fans a great Christmas. Enjoy your Christmas Day and get to the ground early on Boxing Day - it’s a 12 noon kick-off as everyone knows. So let’s get some atmosphere going for the Norwich game."
"I’m sure we’ll get a bumper crowd. And the best Christmas present will hopefully be three points on Boxing Day. That’s certainly the Christmas present that I want most! Hopefully the lads on the pitch will be able to deliver it for me."
Christmas 1998 -MERRY GERRY FRANCIS
RANGERS boss Gerry Francis extends Christmas greetings via the internet to supporters around the globe.
Gerry says: "I’d like to wish Rangers fans all over the world a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year."
"I thank you for your great support, especially since I’ve been back. You’ve got behind the team and the players have responded."
"We need to keep that going and certainly it’s going to be very important that we get as many points as we can over the Christmas period. With the crowd behind us, it helps the players and it helps me."
"So, have a lovely Christmas, we’ll see you all the Norwich game on Boxing Day and let’s hope we get the three points."

Neil Warnock: QPR Official Site - SINGING FROM THE SAME HYMN SHEET'
-R's gaffer Neil Warnock will be in celebratory mood this Christmas Day, with everything rosy in the QPR camp as another New Year approaches.
- Speaking in his exclusive matchday programme column against Swansea City on Boxing Day, Warnock reveals how happy he is in W12, commenting: "This is my first Christmas at Loftus Road and since I've been here everyone has been fantastic. I've been made to feel really welcome.
- "I know the Club has had mixed publicity in the past, but I can guarantee you we're all singing from the same hymn sheet now.
- "The support I've received has been marvellous and it's up to me and my players, with the help of the Directors, to keep pushing on in the second half of the season.- "Christmas is always a difficult time for the players, with the many temptations that are thrown in front of them. When you've got all your family and friends around you indulging in all the festive treats, it can be difficult, but they've got to say no. They'll have plenty of time in later life to enjoy that side of Christmas."

Football League: Gareth Ainsworth CARRY ON WINGING
At 37 he's reached the veteran stage of his playing career, but Wycombe Wanderers winger Gareth Ainsworth has no intention of hanging his boots up just yet despite having coaching credentials, management experience and, crucially perhaps, only six months left on his contract with the npower League 2 club.
Now at the ninth club of a career that has spanned two decades, Ainsworth's seven years at Queens Park Rangers saw him act as Player-Coach for a spell and he also had two stints as Caretaker Manager before leaving Loftus Road to join the Chairboys during last January's transfer window.
With a Uefa 'B' coaching licence to his name and ambitions to eventually work up to the Pro licence, he would be well qualified to move on to the management side of the game sooner rather than later. But as he told football-league.co.uk, those aspirations have been put on hold.
"You don't get three or four year contracts at my age," he noted, "but hopefully I'll get another deal when my current one expires and I definitely intend to go on playing. When I was caretaker at QPR I had lots of Managers - including Sir Alex Ferguson - tell me to play as long as I possibly could and I'm taking their advice.
"Management is hard, especially when you're also playing as I found out. I've got all the respect in the world for Player-Managers because they've got a really tough job. I'll think about management in the long term, but for now I'm happy at Wycombe just playing and helping the younger lads with advice but not having the responsibility of running coaching sessions or picking the team."
Ainsworth's Manager at Wycombe, Gary Waddock, is well known to the winger having been his boss at QPR during the 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons. And Waddock was the biggest reason for Ainsworth's decision to move to Adams Park, where he is now club captain as he looks to help the Chairboys climb back up to League 1.
"Gary is a friend as well as my Manager," said Ainsworth, "and I love playing for him because he likes to play entertaining, attacking football and that's what my game's all about. He did a great job at Aldershot before he came to Wycombe and I think he's got the potential to manage at a much higher level.
"Hopefully he'll be managing Wycombe at one level higher next season, and after the disappointment of last season's relegation I think we've got a right good chance of bouncing straight back. We're in the Play-Off places but still under the radar, and at this stage of the season that's a good place to be.
"We had eight or nine new players come to the club in the close season and it took us a while to gel as a team, but that's happened now and we're playing some good attacking football. I'll see it as a failure if we're not in the top seven come the end of the season, and we'll be pushing to finish as high as we possibly can." Football League
