- The former Bolton Wanderers defender will arrive Lagos this morning in company of his aides and would grace the occasion that is slated for the mainbowl of National Stadium, Surulere.
- Chief co-coordinator of the project, Mary Shittu revealed that the project has been successful so far given the response of footballers from its four major centers namely Abuja, Kaduna, Kano and Lagos. The final phase of the long search will be conducted in Lagos today with the final winner picked by the organizers.
- Mary Shittu explained that her brother has been nursing the desire to help young people in the country since he joined the national team in 2002.
- The project is designed to afford young people and future stars of the game, the chance to showcase their skills and build their potentials to a global standard while a one-year professional football contract in Belgium awaits the winner of the talent hunt programme.
- The programme is meant for boys and girls between 16 and 24 years from October 1 to November 1, 2010. Shittu started his career at Charlton Athletic. He spent most of his two years at the club on loan, first at Blackpool in January and February 2001, then Queens Park Rangers.

QPR U-18 Defeat Millwall Official Site Cup cracker

(Millwall win 7-6 on penalties)
- Millwall's U18s booked their place in the Football League Alliance Cup Semi-Finals following a dramatic 7-6 penalty shoot-out success against QPR.
- The game was originally scheduled to be a home game for Millwall, but it had to be switched to the Hoops' Harlington facility due to a snow covered pitch at the Camont Road training ground.
- Liam Kingsmill's first-half opener for The Lions was cancelled out by Michael Doughty, and with no extra time played, the game went straight to penalties at the end of 90 minutes.
Aiden O'Brien, Tobi Alibi, Phil Stevenson, Kingsmill, Jake Gallagher and Jake Goodman all scored, as did QPR's first six penalty takers, but Lions stopper Jamie Farmer pulled off a stunning save to leave Dammi Shitta with the responsibility of converting what would be a match-winning seventh penalty for Millwall.
- Young Dammi duly obliged, keeping his nerve to settle an epic encounter and send The Lions through to the last four of the competition.
- Earlier on, the two teams had served up a really entertaining match in what really proved to be a game of two halves; the first dominated by Millwall, the second by QPR.
- The teams are currently battling it out at the top of the table, but league leaders QPR were on the back foot for long spells of the opening half.
David Adedipe caused havoc along the right flank in the early stages, delivering a string of teasing crosses from the right flank that had the home side at times defending desperately.
- In fact it came as no surprise when Millwall did make the breakthrough with 15 minutes on the clock following another penetrative run and crisp low cross into the Rangers box by Adedipe. Aiden O'Brien was unable to get a touch to the ball, but Kingsmill, who was following up, crashed home a fine drive from the edge of the home box.
Buoyed by their goal, Scott Fitzgerald's charges produced some fine passages of possession play.
- One phase of slick, quick passing saw The Lions almost double their lead when a move started in their own penalty area ended with Connor French's close range effort kept out by an exceptional piece of goalkeeping from Gareth Dean.
A subtle flick by French into the path of the advancing Kingsmill seconds before the break saw the latter just delay his strike, and the chance was gone.
- Although QPR hardly troubled their opponents in the first 45 minutes, the second half prooved to be the total opposite as Rangers came out of the traps looking a totally rejuvenated side.
Following an intense period of pressure the equalising goal arrived on 53 minutes in somewhat fortuitous circumstances.
There seemed to be little danger when Doughty sent over a routine cross from the right, by unfortunately keeper Farmer misjudged the flight of the ball and it crept inside the angle and upright at the far post. Two minutes later the home side almost grabbed the lead when the ball was rifled into the Millwall side netting after a goalmouth melee which saw both central defenders Jake Goodman and Phil Stevenson execute vital blocks.
Millwall's Tobi Alabi nearly scored with his first touch after coming on as substitute, only to be denied by the athleticism of Dean. The keeper looked suspiciously outside his penalty area when he palmed away Alabi's effort on goal but unfortunately no foul was given.
There was action late in the game at both ends but neither side could produce the crucial knock-out punch and so prevent the drama of a penalty shoot-out.
- Thankfully the safe handling of Farmer coupled with Shitta's cool spot-kick finally settled an absorbing match in Millwall's favour, but credit to both teams for their effort and endeavour.
- Millwall: Farmer, McLaren, Richards, Shitta, Stevenson, Goodman, Adedipe, Gallacher, French (Alabi, 66mins.), O'Brien, Kingsmill. Subs not used: Bartlett, Wilkinson, Paul, Sammoutis. Millwall
