Adam Courtney/Fulham Chronicle - QPR thugs in new riot shame
- Rampaging football thugs caused 'hundreds' of pounds worth of damage to a Shepherd's Bush pub during violent clashes on Monday night.
- Supporters of QPR and Bristol City clashed at the British Queen in Uxbridge Road following the clubs' 2-2 draw
- Witnesses said thugs launched missiles including stones, bricks and planks of wood at the building, smashing windows and doors. The violence comes just months after W12 was left looking like a 'war zone' following Rangers' match against Millwall.
- One poster on the 'We are the Rangers Boys' website said the attack was 'the stuff of nightmares', with women and children caught up in the trouble.
- Other posters said the fight was caused when some QPR fans took exception to a group of about 20 travelling supporters inside the bar, which is a regular haunt for Hoops followers.
- Another was adamant the violence was caused by home fans, posting that the Bristol cointingent 'were drinking quietly troubling no one' and that QPR hooligans had 'smashed up their own pub'.
- David Mariner, who works at The Conningham, opposite the British Queen, agreed QPR fans were to blame.
- He said: "There were Bristol fans in the pub and they may have retaliated but it looked like QPR fans started it.
- "The police eventually arrived in riot gear and shepherded people away but the violence must have gone on for about 20 minutes.
- "The pub was very badly damaged, they've had to put new windows in and I think some speakers were smashed inside. It's cost hundreds."
- The violence comes just months after police made 11 arrests following a clash with Millwall in September, which also involved The Conningham and British Queen, but Mr Mariner doesn't believe the club is gaining a bad reputation for hooliganism.
- "I think the problems the other night were caused by renegades who are actually banned from the ground," he said.
- "We get QPR supporters in The Conningham all the time without any problems so I don't think things are any worse than they used to be."
- The landlord of The British Queen was unavailable for comment on Thursday, while The Chronicle is still waiting for a statement from the Met Police. Fulham Chronicle

Fulham Chronicle/Paul Warburton - QPR target loan swoop for Blackburn Rovers defender
- QPR are ready to gamble on Pascal Chimbonda as Kyle Walker's replacement after the right-back was recalled to Spurs this week at the end of his loan deal.
- Chimbonda has been told he can leave Blackburn – but the sticking point might be getting Rovers to loan rather than sell a player who’s not seen eye-to-eye with his last three Premiership bosses.
- Chimbonda’s one great season in the top flight came with Wigan in 2005-6 when he was named in the PFA team and earned a squad place with France in the World Cup.
- After that it was largely downhill despite deals worth £8million that saw the 31-year-old sign for Sunderland and Tottenham twice before moving to Blackburn in August 2009.
Naturally gifted, rumours from all three Premiership camps reckon Chimbonda’s laziness blighted a promising start.
- But Rs woeful defensive display in Monday’s 2-2 with Bristol City has prompted calls for immediate surgery from manager Neil Warnock.
- He said: "Originally, I was against loan signings – but I think we need two or three players to cover injuries and suspensions."
