QPR Official Statement - CLUB ANNOUNCEMENT
Posted on: Wed 11 May 2011
- Regrettably, the Club can confirm that, for a number of reasons, we will not be holding an end of season parade following our promotion to the Premier League.
- We know this will be a huge disappointment to our fans who have been fantastic this season and everyone at the Club shares this view.
- The Club had held discussions about putting such a celebration on going back over a number of weeks but, unfortunately, the on-going FA inquiry, coupled with other factors beyond our control, prevent this from happening.
- However, plans are already afoot for a pre-season celebration, once the players return to training in July.
- We will, of course, keep you - our supporters - updated with any developments in due course. QPR

ON THIS DAY - QPR WIN PROMOTION TO DIVISION ONE
- May 11, 1968, QPR travelled to Aston Villa, neck and neck with Blackpool chasing for promotion. (In an era, when there were two points for a win; there was goal aggregate (goals for divided by goals against) rather than goal difference; and only two teams were promoted - with no playoffs for the teams below). The Programme Mick Leach scored QPR's first. Eight Minutes from time, a Bradley Own goal put QPR 2-1 up and that was the final score. QPR promoted with a marginally better goal aggregate than Blackpool.
- The QPR team on that day:
Mike Kelly
Allan Harris, Bobby Keetch, Tony Hazell Ian Watson
Ian Morgan, Mike Keen Les Allen, Mick Leach
Rodney Marsh, Frank Clarke

Martin Samuel/Daily Mail - DEVIL IN THE DETAIL FOR WARNOCK
Swansea City are waiting on the full tribunal verdict before revealing whether they will contest the decision to merely fine Queens Park Rangers for infringement of Football Association rules governing agents and third-party agreements. Very wise.
The long version of the tribunal findings are the key. This was what enabled Sheffield United to pursue West Ham United over Carlos Tevez until they found a judge daft enough to award compensation in excess of £20million.
West Ham had already been fined £5.5m at a Premier League tribunal, but the devil was in the detail and there was plenty of it. Pages and pages of legal explanation that just asked to be picked apart in the appeal courts.
So far, all that is known of the case against QPR over the recruitment of Alejandro Faurlin, is the barest, blandest statement outlining two guilty verdicts and the resulting fine of £875,000.
Swansea now wait on full disclosure and Rangers must hope the words are watertight. If there is so much as a hint that the FA tribunal took the state of the season into account, most particularly the fact that any points deduction would throw promotion and play-off issues into chaos, then we are in familiar territory.
A similar admission, that West Ham had been judged with one eye on the Premier League relegation battle, was the basis of Sheffield United’s case. Either way, QPR may yet be vulnerable via the rogue Lord Griffiths compensation ruling.
Griffiths based part of his argument on a contractual law known as Chitty on Contracts. In short, he said that Sheffield United were not responsible for their league position, because West Ham had acted in bad faith.
This same claim could easily be made against QPR by Swansea, using the Tevez case as precedent. Neil Warnock, the QPR manager, has railed against those who made dire predictions of points deductions without knowing the facts.
Yet so much remains mysteriously hidden, even now. It is almost as if the FA is scared to let Swansea’s lawyers see the paperwork.
And, experience suggests, well they should be Daily Mail

Dave McIntyre - Akos asks QPR for Premier League opportunity
- AKOS Buzsaky insists he is good enough to play for QPR in the Premier League next season.
Widely seen as Rangers’ star man before injury problems and the arrival of Adel Taarabt, Buzsaky has been something of a bit-part player during the club’s promotion campaign.
Buzsaky was due to meet manager Neil Warnock this week, amid rumours the Hungarian playmaker could be among several players who will be told they are not in the manager’s plans.
“I have faith in my own ability and would love to play for QPR in the Premier League,” said Buzsaky.
“That’s what I came here for, but since then I have been unlucky with injuries and the club has also been through some difficult times.
“Now I am fit, QPR have won promotion – which I always believed we could in the end – and obviously I want to play a part in the future.”
Buzsaky, who recently turned 29, was one of the first arrivals at Rangers following the sale of the club to Flavio Briatore and Bernie Ecclestone in 2007.
The former Plymouth player has been hampered by ankle and knee problems, but was regarded as a first-choice player by Warnock before the start of the season.
He would have been selected for the opening game against Barnsley, but suffered a knock ahead of the game and his place went to Shaun Derry – who was, ironically, signed as a squad player but went on to be an almost ever-present and enjoyed a fantastic season.
“It’s up to the manager, of course. If he calls on me then it’s up to me to perform,” Buzsaky added.
“After my injuries, pre-season will be important for me. I do believe that after a good pre-season I can show my best form.
“I just want to celebrate this promotion and then have the best pre-season I can, so that I’m fully fit and ready to play if the manager picks me.” Press
Mail - Bundesliga winners Dortmund after QPR playmaker Taarabt
German champions Borussia Dortmund are interested in QPR talisman Adel Taarabt.
The Moroccan’s influential role in Rangers’ promotion season has caught the eye of the Bundesliga side’s scouts. They are hoping the offer of Champions League football will convince the 21-year-old to head to Germany.

QPR are lining up a season-long move for Hull’s 32-year-old midfielder Jimmy Bullard.
