Gary Borrowdale is looking to extend his stay at Barnet

QPR defender Gary Borrowdale, currently on loan at Barnet, is open to extending his stay at the Bees.

The left-back joined the north London club at the end of September and his loan deal expires on December 31.

However the 26-year-old is enjoying his time at Barnet and is looking to see what can be done in January.

“I have got to see what the situation is with Queens Park Rangers - I know I’m not playing there – but I need to see if I can get away,” Borrowdale said.

“I am enjoying my time at Barnet and the boys are great. I don’t see why not. If something can be done there is no reason not to.”

The defender was full of praise for his team-mates Michael Hector and Paul Downing, who have earned the nicknames Rio and JT respectively after the England centre back partnership.

“I think Rio and JT have come in and performed well,” he added.

“The manager has also changed a few things around, making us a little more defensive.

“We are getting on the counter attack which has limited the opportunities we are giving away.

“(Our upturn in form) is down to a whole range of things and the confidence of the boys is coming out as well.

“So we go into every game looking to win now instead of maybe holding on to something.” London 24
