Federico Macheda and Nile Ranger charged by FA for homophobic Tweets
Manchester United's Federico Macheda, Newcastle United's Nile Ranger and Walsall's Manny Smith have all been charged by the Football Association for alleged homophobic comments on Twitter.
The players are alleged to have acted in a way which was improper and/or brought the game into disrepute.
Each has until 1600 GMT on Wednesday 29 February to respond to the charges.
West Ham's Ravel Morrison and ex-Leicester player Michael Ball have recently been fined for similar cases.
Morrison was fined £7,000 by the FA in February after he admitted a charge of using abusive and/or insulting words on Twitter, including a reference to a person's sexual orientation.
Ball, who also played for England, Manchester City and Everton, was fined £6,000 for tweeting about Coronation Street actor Anthony Cotton.
The FA launched a new six-year inclusion and anti-homophobia plan last Monday called 'Opening Doors and Joining In' where it outlined its aims to rid the game of prejudice.
Macheda, 20, is currently on loan at QPR, having joined the west London club in January.

TONY FERNANDES is planning to listen to the concerns of irate QPR fans on a pub crawl before Saturday’s visit of Everton.
The Rangers chairman has been getting stick on Twitter after his side’s disappointing 1-0 defeat to local rivals Fulham at the weekend.
But he has vowed not to walk away from the club and will meet supporters to canvass opinion on under-fire boss Mark Hughes.
Fernandes said: “I will be at the Everton game. I’ll come early and walk round the stands and come to the pubs. And hear you out. I’m not going to quit and am not going to run away from problems. We will get there.
“I understand your frustrations but I love what we’re doing at QPR.
“Just moaning and blaming isn’t going to help.
“Be positive. I have been through much worse. I’m loving every moment. I’ll do my best. Believe me.” Star
