QPR Report Tuesday: QPR Updates and Flashbacks...Pellicori...Administration...ABC Loan

-

Yorkshire Evening Post/Leon Wobschall  - Leeds United: Whites will have to wait on Paddy Kenny

Leeds United’s bid to bring in Paddy Kenny has been cast into doubt – with Queens Park Rangers unlikely to sell before they bring in a top-class replacement.

The Yorkshireman, 34, has been strongly linked with a move to United, having played under Elland Road boss Neil Warnock at Rangers, Sheffield United and Bury.

The future of Kenny, about to enter the final year of his contract, is set to be discussed shortly, with the keeper hoping to be offered a new deal at Loftus Road.

An improved contract was discussed prior to QPR’s sacking of Warnock in January, but talks later scheduled for the first week of February did not take place.

Rangers have since made enquiries about a number of keepers, including Aston Villa’s Shay Given with the R’s board expected to sit down and discuss transfer targets this week – with the mantra being that players will only be sold after a replacement in that position is brought in.

The goalkeeping position is also thought not to be among Mark Hughes’ overwhelming priorities, top of which is sorting out the future of disgraced midfielder Joey Barton.

Kenny, who joined Rangers in the summer of 2010, started 33 Premiership games for the West London club in 2011-12, missing just five top-flight matches.

Warnock has also been strongly tipped to raid his former club and make moves for ex-United midfielder Shaun Derry and defender Clint Hill, while forward Tommy Smith is the latest Hoops player to be linked with a move to Elland Road.

Hill, 33, – named Players’ Player and Fans’ Player of the Year in 2011-12 – was recently offered fresh terms by R’s boss Hughes and is thought to be keen on remaining in the Premiership, as is Derry.

Thirty-two-year-old Smith is down the pecking order at Loftus Road and with his chances expected to be limited next term, could be allowed to move on." Yorkshire Evening Post

Oldham Official Site - LEE LEAVES LATICS

Posted on: Mon 28 May 2012

Sheffield Wednesday have today confirmed the signing of Latics' player-of-the-year Kieran Lee.

The out-of-contract Lee has joined the Hillsborough club on a three-year contract.

Lee initially spoke to the Owls a fortnight ago, but the transfer was not completed until he returned from holiday.

The 23-year-old right back has made a near clean sweep of Latics' player-of-the-year awards for each of the last two season.

Lee, who made most apperarances for Latics playing in 53 of their 56 matches in 2011/12, leaves with the best wishes of everyone at Latics.

Manager Paul Dickov said: "I would like to wish Kieran all the best and he has been a fantastic player and I am happy he is joining a Championship club as he deserves to play at that level.

"Kieran has been consistently our best player for the last two season."

Lee kicked off his career at Manchester United from whom he had a half-season loan at QPR in 2008.

He signed for Latics four years ago, but had a difficult start at Boundary Park and it took almost 18 month before he became a first-team regular.

Since then, however, Lee has been one of the mainstays of the Latics' side and leaves having made 134 appearances for the club having scored five goals.

Lee joins a number of other ex-Latics' players at Hillsborough - Jermaine Johnson, Chris O'Grady and Daniel Jones.

Lee is pictured receiving one of his recent player-of-the-year awards from Paul Dickov.

QPR1st - Season Tickets and the Family Stand
Published May 28, 2012

QPR1st is pleased that prices for existing season ticket holders wishing to renew have not been increased. We urge the Club to publish the cost of new season tickets immediately for sake of clarity and transparency as it is not presently obvious if these will be the same price as renewals or different.

We also sympathise with the club’s ambition to create a family stand in the Lower Loft and acknowledge that the aim is to create an environment that will encourage families and a new generation of QPR supporters.

It is disappointing that this initiative comes at the cost of moving fans that have had seats in that area for many years. Supporters build an emotional relationship with their part of the ground and the people who they watch with: they are more than just seats in a sports stadium

We ask the club to reconsider this policy and request that fans are only asked to move on a voluntary basis to reduce upset and resentment created between fans and club. The trust will support the club in having a vigorous behaviour policy in the stand to ensure an atmosphere that is conducive to attracting families to QPR.  QPR1st
