QPR OFFICIAL SITE - Defender pens permanent deal in South Wales

MATTHEW Connolly has joined Championship club Cardiff City.

The 24 year-old has penned a three year-deal in South Wales, after the two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee for the defender's services.

A product of the successful Arsenal academy, Connolly joined QPR from the Gunners in January 2008, initially penning a three-and-a-half year deal.

The versatile defender made his debut against Chelsea in an FA Cup third round tie at Stamford Bridge, before going on to make 21 appearances in all competitions that season.

Connolly made a further 39 appearances the following campaign, before bagging his first goal in QPR colours against Blackpool in January 2010 with a stunning volley.

He was also on target in Neil Warnock's first game in charge and finished the 2009/10 season with a further 21 appearances to his name.

However, it was during the 2010/11 Championship-winning season that Connolly really came of age, forming a strong defensive partnership with Kaspars Gorkss, as the R's cantered to the title.

Last season proved to be a mixed one for Connolly, however.

He made just six Premier League appearances for the R's, but then won yet another promotion - this time with Reading - for whom he spent the final few months of the campaign on loan.

In total, Connolly made 135 appearances in all competitions for Rangers, scoring two goals.

The club would like to thank Matthew for his contribution to QPR and wish him all the best for the future http://www.qpr.co.uk/news/article/210812-connolly-cardiff-325932.aspx

QPR Official Site - EPHRAIM INKS EXTENSION

Hogan signs new deal until summer of 2014

HOGAN Ephraim has put pen to paper on a one-year contract extension at Loftus Road.

The midfielder has signed a new deal until the summer of 2014, as Mark Hughes continues to strengthen his first team squad.

Ephraim, who has made 117 appearances for the R’s since joining – initially on loan – in August 2007, expressed his delight at committing his future to the club, commenting: “It’s very pleasing to have my future sorted.

“There’s been a lot of player movement – both in and out – so I’m happy that I’ve signed and I know where my future lies.

“The manager has been very good to me ever since he arrived here. He backed me up with a new contract last year and now another one this season.

“Now I’m looking forward to try to force my way into the 25-man squad and stake a claim for a place in the team.”

*An exclusive interview with Hogan Ephraim will be on QPR Player soon.   QP

Former Queens Park Rangers striker Patrick Agyemang training with Bidvest Wits

Former Queens Park Rangers striker Patrick Agyemang is training with Bidvest Wits and could possibly sign at the end of the week.

Agyemang is a free agent, having spent the past six months at English League One club Stevenage.

KickOff.com has already spotted the towering striker at Wits and upon further enquiries it has been revealed that a decision on the 31-year-old will be made at the end of the week.

Though born in England, Agyemang has his roots in Ghana for whom he has been capped twice, and has played most of his football in the English lower divisions, starting off at Wimbledon before moving to Brentford, Gillingham, Preston North End, QPR, Bristol City, Millwall and Stevenage.

He was part of the QPR team that won promotion back to the Premier League during the 2010/11 season, but only went on to play just two games in the Premier League before going out on loan to Millwall.

His contract with QPR was not renewed upon its expiry in June.

Though not a predatory scorer, Agyemang is a targetman who feeds mobile players very well and with Wits having Calvin Kadi, Robin Ngalande and Ryan Chapman, he could be a wise signing.

Wits also have Nigerian striker Yero Bello – who recently also tried his luck at Orlando Pirates – also training, but he will not be signed as he has not been convincing.
