QPR goalkeeper Cesar in line for a shock move to Real Madrid after Casillas injury

Julio Cesar has emerged as a shock target for Real Madrid.

The Brazilian goalkeeper, 33, has established himself as QPR’s No 1 ahead of Rob Green since joining last summer.
But manager Harry Redknapp could face a fight to keep the shot-stopper, with Jose Mourinho understood to be considering plotting a move.

Shock: Julio Cesar could be on his way to the Spanish capital
The Madrid boss is in the market for a keeper after Iker Casillas suffered a broken hand that could rule him out for up to two months - a period that includes the Champions League second-round double-header against Manchester United.
Real are thought to prefer to take Cesar on loan until the end of the season, but the keeper would insist on a permanent switch.
Mourinho knows Cesar well, having worked with him at Inter Milan.

Searching: Jose Mourinho is in need of a goalkeeper after Iker Casillas injured his hand
Whether Redknapp would consider allowing Cesar to leave in the middle of their relegation scrap remains to be seen, but it would reduce QPR’s huge wage bill.
Meanwhile, Casillas has issued a statement denying claims that he and team-mate Sergio Ramos had threatened to leave the club if Mourinho was not removed from his post at the end of the season.

Blow: Casillas may be out for two months after sustaining his injury at Valencia
Spanish sports daily Marca yesterday claimed that the club captains had issued the ultimatum to president Florentino Perez on Tuesday, who branded the report an ‘attempt to destabilise the club’.
Shortly afterwards a statement from Casillas and Ramos was posted on the club’s website, in which they stated their support for the manager.

QPR owner Fernandes plans drastic pay cuts this summer in a bid to slash wage bill

Queens Park Rangers plan to enforce drastic reforms to their pay structure this summer as Tony Fernandes aims to slash his wage bill.
The likes of Joey Barton, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Bobby Zamora, Jose Bosingwa, Julio Cesar and Loic Remy all arrived on basic wages of at least £60,000 a week.
But the proposal will see prospective new signings earn a significantly lower basic salary with more loaded incentives, including appearance and goal bonuses.

Costly: Loic Remy joined QPR this month and is understood to be on a basic salary in excess of £70,000 a week
Bosingwa, 30, was recently fined two weeks’ wages for refusing to sit on the bench.
And the Portuguese is now refusing to leave Loftus Road for anything less than his current wage.
Fernandes hopes the new pay approach will ensure such instances will not happen again.  Mail
